Header: 656 COMICS IS LOOKING FOR SUBMISSIONS!!!
Bulletin: Comic enthusiasts Amerikaners

The Summer edition of the Comiquero is history, having been delivered safe and sound to the printers, and we want to thank everyone who submitted who made it a huge success. The issue is due to hit the stands at the end of September. Once again, thank you to everyone especially those of you who submitted from the DA community.

Now, who wants to be a part of the Fall edition of El Comiquero? The due dates for the Fall edition are as follows: October 15th all finished work.

The guidelines remain the same and here as follows are the official convection of the Frequently Asked Questions…

El Comiquero: 4 Seasons FAQ

What type of work are you soliciting?
Original Comics, Mangas, Comic Strips
(Absolutely no previously published work that has appeared in other media or interpretations of such!)

Does the theme of the work need to be associated with the seasons?
Not necessarily, the theme is open to interpretation. (Absolutely NO hentai, porn or gratuitous violence, this is not to say that you can’t accomplish your goals through storytelling and tact. A good and talented artist will find a way to show it without showing so much. Remember this is an all ages publication.)

Are you accepting work in color?
Unfortunately color work is not presently being accepted. Due to time constraints and other factors, we are only soliciting work in black and white and grey hues as well.

How many pages must the comic submission contain?
The comic submission must contain a minimum of 8 pages but not to exceed 12 pages.

Do you accept pin-ups?
Yes, we accept pin-ups, but actual sequential work will take predominance.

What is the final deadline for handing in work?
The final deadline for the Fall Comiquero will be October 15th. We will announce the deadlines for future installments of the anthology as the “season” approaches.

What are the dimensions that the completed work must measure?
The comic pages must fit the dimensions of a traditional comic book page. Each page must measure 7 inches in width and 10.5 inches in height (7x10.5). No digest size or eastern sizes will be accepted.

Can I send in hardcopy pages for you to reduce and size?
No, unfortunately we are only accepting completed works in digital form. We will not setup pages or manipulate work in any way, shape, or form. (Pay close attention to editing your own submission. What you send us is what will be printed, so before submitting completed work, revise, revise, revise!)

What type/format of digital archive must the work be presented in?
Files MUST be in TIFF format for PC. All files should be archived in standard format (ie: winzip, winrar, winace. Etc...) Only send one file at a time in order to prevent problems when sending.

What resolution should the files be presented in?
300 dpi

How do I send the archived files?
We recommend you use any online resource that will host the files for free, we like using sendspace.com. Simply upload your files into a single archive through the host. The host (sendspace.com) will provide you with a link to the uploaded files. Send us the link at the email provided 656comics@gmail.com and we will retrieve the files. Once we have downloaded the files, we will inform you through email that we have received them.

What’s up with the workshops?
The workshops will consist of classes to further explain the art of comics and the elements that go into creating them. The workshops will be taught by professional, both mainstream, indie, and underground and through the classes we hope to explain the dynamics of sequential storytelling, concept to fruition, script writing, characterization and character development, drawing, inking, sequential art, designing the cover, color, black and white and grays. Currently these workshops are only offered to residents of Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. We will inform you of the start up date for the workshops, and enrollment.

How many pages is the final publication?
Each Comiquero anthology will be a 52 page publication.

I get to keep all rights to my submissions, story, characters, etc and can publish them in any other publication or in other countries if I choose to. Correct?
Correct and true! All rights are reserved to the individual creator(s) and their creations belong to the contributor as do submissions and can be published anywhere and anytime after the issue of El Comiquero in which their submission appears has been published and distributed.

Will there be any monetary recompense for those who submit work? If not, how will those who contribute be compensated for their submitted work?
MONEY WILL NOT BE PAID FOR SUBMISSIONS, but those involved whose submissions are published will receive copies of the anthology in which their work appears.

Questions, comments and suggestions are welcome and may be sent to our email: 656comics@gmail.com

Will be adding questions and answers as we receive them and deem necessary.

Thank you and Good luck!
