Only Three Weeks Until MegaCon!

Bulletin:

Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s time for the second MegaCon Newsletter of 2007. The convention is just over three weeks away and we have a lot of great things to clue you in on, so let’s get right to it.

First and foremost, we have to give a shout out to our wonderful sponsor, Coliseum of Comics, and co-sponsors, Big City Comics, Funimation Entertainment and Students of the Unusual. Without them, none of this would be possible.

New Comics Guests!
MegaCon is extremely pleased to announce that Dick Giordano has been selected as this year’s Guest of Honor. Mr. Giordano is a longtime editor and artist whose name has appeared in such titles as Batman: Hollywood Knight and Watchman. Be sure to stop by to see him and ask him for an autograph.

Also making a special appearance at MegaCon this year is Adam Kubert (Action Comics, Ultimate X-Men, Incredible Hulk). Adam will be appearing Saturday and Sunday only from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. So if you want to meet him, be sure you’re at the convention hall at these times.

And making his first appearance ever at MegaCon is Voltaire. Voltaire is a popular artist and musician whose comics Chi-Chian and Oh My Goth have become Goth hits. Voltaire will appear at the convention as well as perform on Friday at 9:00 PM and Saturday at 5:00 PM.

New Media Guests!
Actor and comedian, Michael Winslow (Police Academy and Spaceballs), makes an appearance at this year’s MegaCon. If you’ve seen any of his movies or his stand up act, you know how funny this man is.

Aspiring artists and manga/anime fans will not want to miss this. Jeremy Mauney is a professional manga assistant illustrator for Fist of the North Star/Blue Sky in Tokyo, Japan. Jeremy will speak and answer questions about his experiences moving to Japan and, only a few days after arriving, landing a job working for one of the most famous and successful Japanese manga/anime in history. He will also introduce his first original comic, Sleeping Giant, a story based around his experiences of being thrown into a completely new culture after having been born and raised on a farm in Kentucky.

Meet two members from Duel Jewel in person. Hayato, the vocalist, and another member from the band will be at the convention for photos, autographs, and a special video concert premiere. Duel Jewel was one of the first Japanese visual rock bands to ever play in America so be sure to be there Sunday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM to see the two hour exclusive concert video which has never been shown before. Then stay for a Q&A session from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM. Complete details and event information can be found at www.jhouserock.com.

Web Cartoonist Awards!
MegaCon is proud to announce that it will be hosting the 6th annual Web Cartoonist’s Choice Awards. After six years of growing in world-wide popularity, the WCCAs will, for the first time ever, be presenting the 2007 winners at a live ceremony. Star Wars Costume Contest!
If the force is strong with your costuming skills, be sure to enter the Star Wars Costume Contest at MegaCon 2007 and show off your best Star Wars creation. Categories for this year's contest are: Best Hero, Best Villain, Best Children’s Entry (ages 0-13), and Most Obscure/Original. So don your best smuggler's gear, paint yourself green and pick up an entry form at the 501st Legion's booth (#827). The contest will be held in room #315A from 6:15 PM to 7:15 PM on Saturday. Even if you don't suit up in armor, stop by to watch the fun.

AMV Contest!
Anime Sushi's 2007 AMV Contest at MegaCon 2007 will be held on Saturday at 4:30 PM on Level 3 in Hall C. Pre-registration online is open until February 7 at www.animesushi.com. Sign up soon for an early spot in pre-judging. Registration is also available at the con with a deadline of Saturday at 11:15 AM. New Event!
In addition to the normal AMV Contest, Anime Sushi is hosting a brand new event at MegaCon2007. This is the first ever Anime Hyper World, Dub Contest Party. At MegaCon 2007, Anime Sushi will be displaying your version of your favorite Anime shows…because you’re going to replace the soundtrack. This is your chance to dub your own anime!
