I've been a comic book fan since childhood when my dad first introduced me to the medium. He grew up listening to heroic adventures on the radio and watching weekly serial cliffhangers of Spy Smasher, Batman, Superman, The Phantom, Blackhawk, Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon, Green Hornet, Lone Ranger, The Shadow and the original Captain Marvel. He was a fan of the first (and greatest) team of super heroes, The J.S.A. and passed his love of all this on to me. And (thankfully) mom saved it all!

By the age of 14, I was spending hours in my room producing "radio dramas" on tape using comic books as scripts and was soon bitten by the acting bug (no, it wasn't radioactive). As a struggling actor in New York for 15 years, I appeared on community and off-Broadway stages and in films while teaching myself how to write screenplays (thank you, Syd Field).

My earliest "work" in comics was a transition from acting to modeling on various projects for an illustrator at The Studio, Louis Small, Jr. My most high profile project was serving as the character model for Taltos in Vampirella:Dangerous Games.

I then studied at The Studio with its founder, Grey (the illustrator responsible for redesigning the costume of the current Mr. Terrific) in his story-telling and property development workshop. I also met a lot of great folks in the industry like inker Rob Stull, Alex Simmons (creator of Blackjack), N.Steven Harris (Aztek, New Mutants & The Fringe), Mshindo Kuumba, Professor William Foster and pitched stories to both sides of DC/Vertigo.

It was in Grey's workshop that I first developed the property, Alien Son X. I also met the man who gave me my first paid gig in the industry, Mark Mazz. Through Mark's endeavor, The Studio Forum, I was able to interview some really talented people and make new friends.

Due to the economic hardships of post-9/11 New York, I found myself at Camp La Guardia, a 1,001 man homeless shelter near Chester, NY. While residing there, I bought a used laptop, Final Draft screenwriting software and turned Alien Son X into a screenplay. Twelve contests later it received an Honorable Mention and placed as a semi-finalist as well as finalist in three competitions from 2003 to 2004.

In 2005, I studied writing, graphic novels and comics history at NYU with Danny Fingeroth (Write Now! magazine) and comics legend Dennis O'Neil. During this time illustrator N. Steven Harris and I collaborated on a mini-comic of Alien Son X, available now at comixpress.com. An ashcan version (of which there were only 12 published) was first introduced at the 4TH Annual (ECBACC) East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention in Philadelphia. An original copy of this 9-pager recently sold for $100.00!

I look forward to continuing as a writer in this fabulous medium.
Peace & Blessings.
