Hey, I'm an artist for comics and other things and I've been hanging out with the other two creators of White Picket Fences: Matt Anderson, and Eric Hutchins, for a while now and thought I should start up my own space, show some new art, some different material, and make some new allegiances.

Here's a quick rundown of past books and such that I've illustrated or worked on. Please click on the links for more information on each.

The Living and the Dead (2005), by Todd Livingstion and Robert Tinnell. Awesome guys, and what a script to start a career with. I couldn't have been
luckier.
Night Trippers (2006), by Mark Ricketts. Bloody, groovy, fab, and monstrous.
The Wicked West 2: Abomination & Other Tales (2006), this short by Robert Tinnell. A pleasure to work with Bob again, and what a creepy story!
Illustrations for Read magazine Halloween and Christmas issues (2006) I'll put some images from these gigs up later.
Strange Girl #13 (2007), by Rick Remender. Lot's of fun with literary allusion in this one, also Bethany in a school-girl uniform, a red devil catsuit, leather bikini, and oh yeah... a vortex of fire, ash, and the damned.
In the pipe...
White Picket Fences (2007), by Matt Anderson and Eric Hutchins. Kick-ass.
Postcards(2007), an uber-anthology. Josh Fialkov wrote our heart-breaking short, and I made it as grey as possible. And with all the other talent in this book, it's going to be phenominal.
More from Read magazine...
Also, please check out my blog for quick peaks, more updates, and to kill a few minutes.

Old stuff? Heck yeah!

Here are some rarely seen old pieces I did. I look back and think, "Holy moley, I used to know what I was doing." That said, look around here for more weird stuff in the future.

They deserve to be shown off. The owl you drew is unbelievable!
You have an amazing eye for anatomy.

I have to put clothes on the piece I did. =( Some parents were taken a back (I guess, quite literally).

from layout to pencil to color to lettering it takes anywhere from 8-15 hours I'd say. That's on book3. Book one was on the lower end of that because of deadlines.

thanks, your work is astounding, I highly enjoy it.

thanks again!

Hi Micah!

You're one of my favorites. I like your style a very much, and I am a little bit curious too. How do you make the colours. Is it old style water-colours and pencil - or do you use a digital technique?

I render the pages as fully as I want with pencils, scan them, and then I layer on levels of color and texture in Photoshop. Glad you dig them, I'll be hand coloring stuff in the future, but I'm still a beginner with the brush.

Hi Micah! That's really interesting, because it looks very much like hand-coloured stuff. But, then again, the possibilities are almost endless with digital methods. Personally, when I make the colours, I use sampled textures: clothes, rough materials, ha-ha, even food. But you make it look very natural. Amazing!
