Alex Wilson is a writer in Carrboro, North Carolina (originally from northern Ohio). The first two issues of the minicomic Inconsequential Art are available now for a buck each, plus 39 cents shipping. The first issue features art by Dennis Culver. " Persistent City," a story illustrated by Mario Boon, appears in the current (Fall 2006) issue of The Florida Review ( Details/Ordering Info). Also forthcoming in Hope: New Orleans from Ronin Studios. " Outgoing" is a science fiction/fantasy novelette appearing in the February 2007 issue of Asimov's Science Fiction (on newsstands now, and available online; Details/Ordering Info). " Groundbound" is a science fiction story in production for a future issue of FutureQuake. " The First Noel" is a December 2006 standalone webcomic story co-created by Jack Lucido. More details here. " Undersweet" is a weekly webcomic strip that ran from August 2003 through November 2004. " All's Fair in Love and Police Actions" is a Southparkesque super-hero parody film available in Quicktime, iPod Video, and YouTube formats. It was an iFilm "Clip of the Day." Brian K. Vaughan called it "f--kin' tops" and Cory Doctorow said it was "amazingly funny and well-executed." I also run the online projects Telltale Weekly (audiobooks) and Guidevines (wiki for writers). More projects available here. And then there's the whole blog thing. Handles: "Alexotica" on MySpace and the BKV Cabal, "Alex" on the Engine, FBR FanBoard, and Bendis Board. Generally "Alex Wilson" (Millarworld, Ronin Studios) or "AlexW" (Quesada Forum) anywhere else.

Hi there! We’re starting up this year’s Small Press Idol…and wanted to invite you to the grand unveiling of this year’s Guidelines. I apologize for the all-in-one nature of this. At this time, individuals and teams have a little over a month to get things together and be ready to post their Round 1 entries. Round 1 will last till March 25th. It’s a solid window to get a project together and qualified for Round 2 past our judge panel. If you are interested in being a contestant, this is fair warning to get a project going! If you are a news outlet or resource of any sort, we invite you to help spread the word about Small Press Idol, and get on the official Sponsors and Supporters list on the Idol Main Page. Traditionally, the page has gotten hundreds of thousands of hits a month for the 5 months the contest runs. All we ask in return for the link placement on our prominently placed list, is a link back in some way that is fairly prominent, and that you indeed cover the contest if you are a news site. You can contact us about that right from the guidelines page. Just want to watch the show? That’s great! Now is time to sign up at the site so you can VOTE in the rounds to come, and post comments about your favorites! We’re expecting hundreds of contestants this year. It should be a lot of fun!

Hope this message reaches you in the spirit it was intended, you are welcome to ask questions, and otherwise make sure this is for real. This is the fourth year for the SPI. Last year’s contest pages are still online. So that’s what this is about, hope it interests you!

Hi, Alex! Thanks for being my friend. I'm very glad to meet you! Hey... Your tags say you are a musician, on top of all the other neat things! What do you play, if I may be so snoopy? I play guitar, bass, keyboard and recorder, myself. I also play my vocal chords--when they are cooperating. ;P
