Howdy,
I've read these comical books since my misspent youth, and they're still one of the great passions of my life. Having mostly left the pamphlets behind, I've amassed more than 400 graphic novels (yes, I counted. I can just smell how impressed you are), mostly of what the industry calls "alternative", and I call "all the other genres". Since I can't draw a straight line, I'm all agog over those who can create people - entire worlds even - with a pen and paper. You'll find me at ComiCon lavishing out hero-worship and embarrassing the passersby.
Having spent more time on-line chatting about comics than I care to think about, I thought I'd move the conversation into the analog world. I created the Los Angeles Graphic Novel Book Club (www.lagraphicnovelbookclub.com), which meets the last Sunday of each month for a group discussion of a pre-selected book. We've had meetings so far discussing comics from Clowes, Ware, Gaiman, Eisner, Seth, Crumb, Mark Kalesniko and David Mack. Let me know if you want to join what Tony Millionaire referred to as "Allen's little supper club".
That's one of a couple of comics-related projects I'm working on, mostly under the premise that comics can be as popular as movies, or at least a good John Irving novel.

I work in Torrance, but I end up going to Del Amo mall once a week.

Re: Your question

Yeah, Rebecca is my wife of 13 years.

Rabbithead was published as a mini comic with a 200 copy print run, and as a wall scroll which had the entire comic in one long poster... only 10 were printed, and was then picked up by Alternative Comics and printed as a single issue comic.

She's also got work in the anthology BLOOD ORANGE, and will have work in the upcoming ROSETTA and MEATHAUS anthologies.

Oh, I gotta have the wall scroll! Make more wall scrolls, definitely.

It must have been quite a point of pride to have such an early comic of hers chosen for such a prestigious book. Does she have aspirations to go the distance and start making longer form work? Is this a career goal for her, or just a side bar to other pursuits?

Sorry, don't mean to be nosey, but since one of my pleasures is to promote the art of comics to the world, I do wonder what thoughts talented people have in mind when they want to make comics. Is it considered a pipe dream? A "maybe someday"? A "gotta do it no matter how long it takes or how little it pays"?

I'll keep an eye out for her work in future. I thought of McCloud's "infinite canvas" while reading Rabbithead. Has she read Demian 5?

Allan, thanks for the kind words about Rabbithead on the TCJ.com message board. Rebecca appreciated it.

Hey thanks, Bougie. Is she your wife or girlfriend or something?

Yeah, Rabbithead is an amazing piece of work - really unique. I've never seen seven storylines held simultaneously on a page before, much less ones that show everything from a rabbit's ears being cut off to a pill bug getting his college diploma. My girlfriend bought me the book (on recommendation from Golden Apple, since she knows nothing about comics), and this was the only strip I showed her after reading it. I mean, I had to show somebody how cool it was!

Where else has it been published?
