SANCHO #4 OUT NOW! ...FINALLY!

Well, it's the new year, and Senor Jose Maria Garcia's Carnivale of Curiosities has a new name: SANCHO #4!

We finally put it to bed before Christmas and had preview editions at John Hendrick's Dublin City Comic Con (which sold out!) A new print run is due in shortly.

Having looked at the contents we decided it had the same look, feel and contents range of the last couple of SANCHO comics, and if it walks like a duck/talks like a duck etc... then we'd better just be done with it and call it SANCHO. As usual, the comic is an anthology of darkly comic horror stories, mostly set in and around Durty Ol' Dublin Town (TM). It's 32 pages of old skool BW art, with a full colour cover.

Declan Shalvey (Herokillers, Tequila and Frankenstein) contributes the superb cover, coloured by myself. Inside you'll find "Big Trouble with Little People" by Ian and me, "Zomblogger" by me (see http://zom-blogger.blogspot.com/), "Out & About In Dublin" by 2000ad and Future Quake botherers Ed Berridge and Bryan Coyle,"Mary Bateman's Hen" by Pádraig Ó Mealóid and your truly, and Sancho #4 is finished off (literally) with a nice little story by ol' pal Garv Giltinan "A Meeting of Minds".

Issues are €4, £3.50, or $6 including shipping from our main site http://www.20000-leagues.com/ or by PayPal (please send to alanfnolan@yahoo.ie).

The Eagles, the UK's most prestigious comic awards, will take place in May.

You can vote for SANCHO in the "Favourite European Comic" category -- enough votes and we will get on the shortlist, and be in with a chance to win the Euro category against some pretty stiff competition.

Voting is open now, and ends 28th February, so please vote early, vote often, and most importantly, VOTE IRISH!!

STOP PRESS

We are thrilled to announce that issue 254 of UK's Judge Dredd Megazine will feature a Sancho story!

"The Drowned Village", written by Sancho creators Alan Nolan and Ian Whelan, and with cool old school black and white artwork by Al, is a 6 page tale of demonic shenanigans set in modern day Japan, and will appear in the popular Small Press section of the Meg.

Judge Dredd Megazine is a monthly title and issue 245 is on sale from next week, 8th Jan 2007 : buy early, buy often and write nice things on the message boards!

SANCHO

My main creation (with Ian Whelan) is Sancho, AKA Jose Maria Garcia, and a paranormal adventurer.

We have currently published 3 issues, in US format (with page count varying between 32-40 pages) with colour covers and old school BW art.

Sancho used to be a Roman Catholic priest, and a member of a secret Vatican organisation called Victory, who were a crack squad of exorcists, travelling the world battling demons, zombies, vampires and possessed naked ladies (Sancho's particular favourite ;)).

He went freelance in 1978 after a disagreement with Pope John Paul (1st, not 2nd) and in 1986 he retired to obscurity in his homeland of Mexico. In 2003 Sancho was back in the saddle again, teaming up with a couple of old (and I mean OLD) pals to battle his own personal demon, a battle in which he died. But! In 2006, after a disagreement with God at the Pearly Gates, following his release from Purgatory, he was banished from back to Earth from Heaven. Which was a pity, 'cause he coulda done with the rest.

However, although Sancho's 72, he now looks and feels kinda 40-ish, so it all worked out. He's still kinda mad at God, though.
