And thanks for showing up. I wish the turnout had been better, but I think it was a pretty good event all the same.

See you at WonderCon.

Great comic! Reminds me of a Tickle Tape strip I did for the Holidays a couple years back: http://www.webcomicsnation.com/StanYan/tickletape/

Thanks! The link you posted didn't lead to a specific comic, for some reason--can you tell me what date to look for?

Sorry, for some reason it puts a hard break in the middle of that when you try to copy it. Anyhoo, it's December 23rd, 2005.

It worked that time. Thanks for the link! I'll start making my way through the rest of the archives soon.

Hi there! We’re starting up this year’s Small Press Idol…and wanted to invite you to the grand unveiling of this year’s Guidelines. I apologize for the all-in-one nature of this. At this time, individuals and teams have a little over a month to get things together and be ready to post their Round 1 entries. Round 1 will last till March 25th. It’s a solid window to get a project together and qualified for Round 2 past our judge panel. If you are interested in being a contestant, this is fair warning to get a project going!
If you are a news outlet or resource of any sort, we invite you to help spread the word about Small Press Idol, and get on the official Sponsors and Supporters list on the Idol Main Page. Traditionally, the page has gotten hundreds of thousands of hits a month for the 5 months the contest runs. All we ask in return for the link placement on our prominently placed list, is a link back in some way that is fairly prominent, and that you indeed cover the contest if you are a news site. You can contact us about that right from the guidelines page.
Just want to watch the show? That’s great! Now is time to sign up at the site so you can VOTE in the rounds to come, and post comments about your favorites! We’re expecting hundreds of contestants this year. It should be a lot of fun!

/Idol07/index.html

Hope this message reaches you in the spirit it was intended, you are welcome to ask questions, and otherwise make sure this is for real. This is the fourth year for the SPI. Last year’s contest pages are still online. So that’s what this is about, hope it interests you!

Hey man: I was at the museum about ten years ago. It was awesome.. you had a bunch of Wally Wood "Spirit in Space" pages, and a ton of Eisner stuff hanging up. I think you did, anyway. I was a little zooted. Great place... how about opening up an Atlantic City branch?

In a perfect world, there would be as many Cartoon Art Museums as there are Hard Rock Cafes, with each one focusing on the area's local cartoonists in addition to retrospectives and other temporary exhibitions.

There's a Jack Kirby Museum in the works, MoCCA and the New York City Comic Book Museum in New York and the Charles Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa, California, and if all of those hang on, then I guess anything's possible.

Andrew, thanks for telling me about Comic Space. So far it is way less painful then MySpace with a lot of cool people.

It will be cool when you can post your web comic here.

Hey Andrew,

I thank you for the praise and for adding me as a friend. I do hope you've seen some of my more recent work. I'd also like to take the opportunity to recommend my writing. Tarzan: Le Monstre from Dark Horse or Demon Wind from Heavy Metal are out there.

Happy New Year,
Lovern

Stuart: Thanks for the mention on your blog; I'll be sure to check it out on a regular basis now. I'm loving NextWave and will be sorry not to see it at my comic shop every month.

Eric, Spike & Terry: Thanks for the kind words.

Jim: I'll be renewing my MoCCA membership within the next few weeks, and encourage everyone to support their favorite comic non-profits this holiday season--Cartoon Art Museum, MoCCA, The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, The Hero Initiative and Friends of Lulu in particular.

Modok: Glad to see you don't hold a grudge over my depiction of you in this year's Marvel Holiday Special (still on sale!). You're a class act all the way.

*****

(and since you can't seem to reply to comments on your own page, I'll be replying as Cartoon Art Museum on Andrew Farago's ComicSpace and vice versa.)
