Thanks for taking the time to add me, Andy (god that sounds really kind of...generic, doesn't it?)

Congrats on your recent family and career moves!

I seem to recall you saying in an interview that you'd be taking some classes at MOCCA - any idea on dates yet?

Hey, Rich. No problem.
I'm teaching two classes at MoCCA. They both start the week after next.

BREAKING INTO COMICS FOR WRITERS begins Tuesday, July10th.
BREAKING INTO COMICS FOR ARTISTS begins Wednesday, July 11th.

They're both 6 three-hour classes long.

If you're interested in taking one or both, I can hook you up with the good folks at MoCCA.

Thanks for the post!

Andy

Congrats on the changes in your life, both personally and professionally. I want to thank you for everything you have done for me during your tenure at Marvel. I wouldn't have had half of the opportunities I've received if not for your encouragement and support.

Good luck in your freelance work, and good luck with the baby! If you're in San Diego this year, we should catch up. Best wishes, and congratulations again.

Thanx for the add, Andy! Your advice in Peter David's book on breaking into comics was very helpful. Oh, and ANNHILATION is incredible!
take care,
Henry Covert

I'm working on Ghosts of Floodtown still, as well as a graphic novel. Just building my published work background. I've also got some video game work. Pretty much whatever pays the bills in the freelance world. I'll send you some stuff soon to show you what I've been up to. Glad to hear things are well with you.

RE: New SHOOTIN' THE SCHMIDT article on THE PULSE

Interesting point you made about Kubrick. I never thought of it before, but I think that's why Alan Moore is such a great writer... he's comicdom's equivalent of a Kubrick in that he's produced terrific works in a variety of genres. I would personally put his Saga of the Swamp Thing top of the list if I wanted to introduce a horror fan to comics, especially the first 2 TPBs reprinting # 21-34, those are simply unbeatable.

Did Giarrusso draw your icon?

Hey Andy,
Just got your message.
Thanks.
Glad you liked the Kabuki books :)

Which books did you read?
The new Alchemy series from Marvel?
Or some of the earlier volumes?

best,
david

Hey man, thanx for the add. Have fun kicking around in the X-Universe. Careful, though. It's easy to get lost. Woot.

I just finished your new column over at the Pulse, and it is odd because I was just talking with my wife the other night about comics I would recommend to a non-comic reader.

After quite a bit of thought, I settled on Superman: Secret Identity by Kurt Busiek and Stuart Immonen. In my opinion, not only is it a brilliantly written and gorgeously illustrated story, but it is also accesible and to a degree, familiar which might help people transition into reading comics.

Hello Andy
Thanks for your message and your welcome here!
It was a pleasure to see Gab's covers on Annihilation and I hope I'll be able to see his vision of some X characters on X-Men titles soon ;)
