Anthony Fontana is a full-time Instructor of Art at Bowling Green State University in Ohio where he lives with his wife, daughter, and two dogs.


Artist Statement
As an artist, I am interested in the sequential narratives of comic books, digital imagery, and the aesthetics of visual culture. My work has focused on symbols of cartoon expression, incorporating themes of violence, sexual fetishism, gaming, and pop culture into my works. The work is always serious enough to be comical, though sensibilities may differ.


I am currently seeking a publisher for my first original graphic novel entitled: THE DOGS

Synopsis:
THE DOGS tale tells of four Cleveland cops that wear dog disguises during brutal acts of vigilanteism. When they inadvertently cross the line with a gang of Furries, a subculture that gains pleasure from wearing fursuits, a gang war erupts leaving one from each warring faction to experience love forbidden by loyalty, one dog, the other furry. In the end, only one gang will survive.


Spliff & Shade
Was an experimental webcomic created in 2004 with Jaysin Osterkamp exclusively for the online zine Pop Culture Chaos.com Jaysin drew each comic, without regard towards storyline, plot, or dialogue and Anthony 'wrote' or filled in dialogue for the characters or narrations. This divison of art and dialog/narrative gave comical, bizzare, and grotesque themes to a seemingly ordinary webcomic. Spliff & Shade will be collected and printed in minicomic format and released in early 2007.
