After helping laying the foundation for some comics related projects in his home town of Sassari in the mid-90’s (such as the fanzine Storie e Disegni and the comics club Circolo Metropolis), in the last five years Antonio Solinas has been one of the driving forces of web-magazines Rorschach, the first ever to be distributed by e-mail in Italy, and Comics Code. Very recently he helped launching the new comics website De:Code (with an all-stars cast).
At the moment, he also collaborates with the most important Italian comics websites, like ComicUs.it and Fumetti di Carta.
Recently, he contributed as a writer to the anthologies Alan Moore, Portrait of an Extraordinary Gentleman (published in USA by Abiogenesis Press and in Italy by Black Velvet), Jack Kirby, Tributo al Re (published in Italy by ComicUs.it/Pegasus), and Killers (Nicola Pesce Editore, Italy), as well as the recent Watchmen, 20 Anni Dopo (Lavieri, Italy).
As for his proper comic debut, Antonio had his start as a comic writer in 1998 in Italy for Liberty. The comic was called Xiola – Primo Sangue (Xiola – First Blood) and it was co-written by Emiliano Longobardi and drawn by future superstar Werther Dell’Edera (Loveless, Vertigo). The comic, presented officially at Torino Comics, received praise both from critics and fans.
During the time he spent in Southampton, UK (almost 5 years), in which he got his PhD in Chemistry and many publications on international scientific journals, Antonio has been busy writing for many comic projects for international publishers, all of which have yet to be published.
At the moment, he is collaborating with popular artists such as Roberta Migheli (Disney), Niccolò Storai (Lucio Fulci, Maestro del Macabro), Giorgio Santucci (Difforme, PlayStation Magazine), Fabiano Ambu (Desdy Metus, l’Insonne) and Dave Taylor (Judge Dredd, Superman-Batman: World’s Finest).
At the moment, Antonio lives in Siena with his wife Suvi, married in July 2005.

His avatar picture has been drawn by Werther Dell'Edera (Loveless for Vertigo/DC Comics).

Thanks for the comment. Happy to meet you too.
This comicspace is great...
Now, if only Josh could get us some space to showcase our comics.... that would be excellent!

heh... I love wizard Magazine, there is a long story that goes with that picture --maybe one day I'll go into it.

Sure, I would love to hear it.

I speak English as my default... but every now and then, I go to Italian whenver possible, so that it doesn't get too rusty. What part of Italy are you in?

I am in Siena, Tuscany, at the moment. God knows what the future holds. I am originally from Sardinia, the island.

Got a few things in the pipeline... but always on the lookout for fun new projects. A lot of the stuff I do is for outside of comic books. I do like to go the comic route whenever a fun project comes along.[i]

I know what you mean... Any other comics soon?

[i]Long story short... there is always room for more fun at the drawing table-- thanks for asking.

I appreciate the compliment on some of my current stuff. I still get a laugh out of when folks bring up that Green Lantern I created for DC back in the day. Nostalgia is a powerful thing... thanks Wizard!

: )

Your stuff is very good. I have a personal preference for the more realistic stuff you draw, but always mixed with that cartoony feeling. Keep up the good work.
Sorry for this strange way of replying, but the site won't let me reply to the comment you left, so I had to do copy and paste.
Ah, before I forget: Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Tomorrow I am going to Finland for Christmas with my wife Suvi (she is Finnish).

Ciao

Antonio

Antonio, thanks for the add! I wish I could read Italian so I could check out Comics Code! LOL! I dig your Dan Pooosay avatar. I think Clowes is God but don't tell him I said so.
