I'm still alive! Still blogging at VariousandSundry.com. Twittering at "AugieDB" VandS.tumblr.com is my Tumblr account I'm all about the Web 2.0 Augie De Blieck Jr. has been an on-line comics columnist longer than many of you have even realized the internet exists. Heck, when he started, images were black and white and took forever to download from Funet.fi. Netscape 2.0 was a twinkly thing in Andreeson's eye. And Larry Young still worked behind the counter of a comics shop. Or maybe he was splitting marble in New Hampshire. Or diving for undersea treasure in the South Pacific. Or logging like manly men do. Wait, isn't that Beau Smith? Nevermind. In any case, here are all the URLs you need to keep track of the guy: Pipeline Commentary and ReviewThe Pipeline PodcastVarious and Sundry

Augie, thanks for the ten years of columns! Congrats on the anniversary. And, as someone who has been married a long time - life as you know it is over. In a good way. Keep up the great work. |

Hey Augie. I just wanted to say thanks for talking up Dynamo 5. I picked up #1 last month after your podcast and it was great. Keep the suggestions coming and I'll keep spending more money! |

Yes, thank you! I don't know where it is in your area, but I do know that Midtown Comics in New York is carrying it. Hope you are doing well...

There was never a time when I was one of the "cool kids," so I'll just thank you for your kind effort.
I'm pushing 31 now - you're still a kiddo, kiddo. ;-) |

Hi there! We’re starting up this year’s Small Press Idol…and wanted to invite you to the grand unveiling of this year’s Guidelines. I apologize for the all-in-one nature of this. At this time, individuals and teams have a little over a month to get things together and be ready to post their Round 1 entries. Round 1 will last till March 25th. It’s a solid window to get a project together and qualified for Round 2 past our judge panel. If you are interested in being a contestant, this is fair warning to get a project going! If you are a news outlet or resource of any sort, we invite you to help spread the word about Small Press Idol, and get on the official Sponsors and Supporters list on the Idol Main Page. Traditionally, the page has gotten hundreds of thousands of hits a month for the 5 months the contest runs. All we ask in return for the link placement on our prominently placed list, is a link back in some way that is fairly prominent, and that you indeed cover the contest if you are a news site. You can contact us about that right from the guidelines page. Just want to watch the show? That’s great! Now is time to sign up at the site so you can VOTE in the rounds to come, and post comments about your favorites! We’re expecting hundreds of contestants this year. It should be a lot of fun!

Hope this message reaches you in the spirit it was intended, you are welcome to ask questions, and otherwise make sure this is for real. This is the fourth year for the SPI. Last year’s contest pages are still online. So that’s what this is about, hope it interests you!

Hey Augie. Thanks for the add. I haven't read Wizard since the early 90s, but I would get excited to read it if you were in charge! Love the podcast. Keep up the good work. 1 Reply [ Latest posted on January 3rd, 2007 6:10 PM ]

Thanks, kind sir. I'll see what I can do with WIZARD, just as soon as they hand me the keys to their kingdom. One of these days. . . |

Thanks for the add. Everyone here is right, you in charge of Wizard might actually motivate me to purchase it again after 7 years of being "Wizard-free". Then again, if you did that, what would I have to read on Tuesdays? 1 Reply [ Latest posted on January 3rd, 2007 6:10 PM ]

I think you'd be a great EIC of Wizard. Unfortunately, I don't think Shamus would allow the kind of epic overhaul changes you're suggesting. Unfortunately, the target audience for Wizard as it stands is a majority of people who buy comics. Those with more mature tastes like you and me are decidedly the minority. I could be wrong though, and would be very happy to be proven so. 1 Reply [ Latest posted on December 28th, 2006 9:35 AM ]

By the time I'm done with it, we WON'T be the minority anymore. It's just taking longer than expected to convert the world to My One Shining Truth. But keep up the good fight, my friend! |

Thanks! WIZARD has yet to come to its senses and hire me, however. It might take another turnover at the highest ranks, but I'm sure my time is coming. Any day now. . . Thanks for reading Pipeline! |

That's me -- all-inclusive, just like the finest of resorts that don't charge you anything extra for the alcohol you'll be binging on during your vacation. |
