I finally bought Pantheon High! How'd y'all make out at Staple? I didn't sell as much as I would have liked, but still had a blast! |

Hi there -
The "meetings" are really just an informal get together at a local Coffee shop where we just chat comics, show off projects and generally gossip, share tips, news etc.

Hey Austin Creators group -- I'm going to come on out and see y'all tonight, but how will I recognize you? Do you all wear funny hats? 1 Reply [ Latest posted on January 24th, 2007 12:00 PM ]

Great - look forward to meeting you.
We are usually at a table in the front section just after you walk in the door. No funny hats I'm afraid.
You could also look for the guy whose mug you can find here (Yep that's me..)
See you there

Hi there,
I thought that your group may be interested in becoming an affiliate of the International Cartoonist Conspiracy. We're a loose international organization of cartoonists. We include both professional cartoonists and amateur doodlers among our membership... membership is open to all cartoonists regardless of gender, race, age, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, attractiveness, wit, or talent. Only the desire to produce comics is necessary.
We've been conspiring since December 2002, and currently have active cartoonist cells in Minneapolis MN, San Francisco CA, Calgary/Edmonton, Chicago IL, Lancaster PA, Milwaukee WI, Montreal, Rice MN, Sacramento CA, Sioux Falls SD and Springfield IL. The most active cells meet once or twice a month to draw jam comics or participate in other activities, put out publications, and arrange gallery shows and other events.
What are the benefits in becoming a cell of the conspiracy?
1) Promotion. We'll give you a section of our message board, which can include a permanent link to whatever website you have for your group at the top of it. This is a good place to organize events and activities for your cell. We can also give a member of your group the ability to publish whatever your group wants on our group blog, which is the homepage of the site.
2) An international group of collaborators. Anyone can start an account on our message board to discuss and organize whatever they wish.

Let me know if you have any questions. If this appeals to your group and I'll set up your section of the message board and a blog account for whoever you wish to have one. Regardless, best of luck to you and your group.
Best wishes,
Steven Stwalley Webmaster, The International Cartoonist Conspiracy |

Excellent, I've been thinking we needed a comic group that met regularly (I've heard of the Sketch group, but have heard not a lot of people show up to the meetings, but haven't seen for myself).

OK let's see if this works.
I am in need of an artist to work with me on a pitch for one of the major comics publishers.
Ideally I'd like to use a local artist with a knowledge of, and feel for, Texas.
The story is an "historical horror western" so will include 19th century clothing, town and cityscapes as well as the usual horses and cowboy stuff. There will be a fair amount of reference work as the two lead characters are actual historical figures.
Oh yeah and you get to draw vampires and ghouls too.
Of course I need this done on-spec (so it isn't a paying gig) - but I can guarantee that it will end up in front of one of the top editors in the business.
I need about 5 pages done by April.
Anyone interested ?? |
