Azteca Productions , is a Dallas, Texas based comic book company-art studio founded by freelance illustrator/ storyboard artist, Richard Dominguez. In October, 1993, Azteca Productions released it's flagship title, El Gato Negro #1 with Dominguez being the creator, writer, penciller, inker, letterer and publisher.
The title was critically acclaimed but lasted only four issues, after a seven-year hiatus, Dominguez again, published El Gato Negro, Nocturnal Warrior #1 in January, 2005.
This time, with writer Michael Moore, penciller Efren Molina and Dominguez as inker, co-plotter,letterer and publisher.

The story emphasizes on a young Latino male, Francisco Guerrero, a social worker by day, crimefighter by night. Francisco got his moniker from his grandfather, Agustine "Gus" Guerrero, a Mexican masked 'Luchador' turned-adventurer during the 1950's and early 60's.
The series has a bit of everything, the philosophy of 'The Mark of Zorro', the determination of 'Ritchie Valens', the family values of Gregory Nava's 'Mi Familia' with martial arts and finally, seasoned just right with 'Lucha Libre'. All of this is set before a backdrop of the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas, along the the Texas-Mexico border. The 'Nocturnal Warrior will have his own array of colorful and unique 'Super-Villains' that will make both Batman and Dick Tracy green with envy.

Hey Richard!

After reading your bio I just wanted to commend you on sticking with Gato Negro. Critical acclaim but low sales usually crush most creators. You stuck with it and that's to be commended. I'm in the same boat (minus the critical acclaim) so I feel you on that. Aside from that I LOVE the premise of the book and the art work. It's that old school Stan Lee type story telling that I love. Gato Nero sounds like it's ABOUT SOMETHING and that's getting kinda rare these days. So props to you Richard! I can't stand Texas (I'm a Washington Redskins fan from WAY back) but you've got my respect, partner.

Thanks for accepting my add request! I am going to have to find a way to get a hold of that book. You mixing Lucha Libre, comics and a Guererro all in the mix? I know this is going to be a great book!
