cat goes to the lcs

On Saturday I brought my boyfriend (sometimes refered to as my
bourbon-drinking cat) to my LCS. "This is why I don't call you during
my lunch hour on Wednesdays." It was a blast. He didn't get anything
for himself, which was dissapointing but not unexpected, since he has
a stack of about 5 or 6 vol 1 trades from me to read through. But he
bought me Runaways vol 6 and Batman The Long Halloween, since I forgot
my wallet, which was really cool. Two beautiful moments: my cat
talking loudly about the box of comics he found in his atic from his
youth while firmly asserting himself as my SO, to fend off any
fanboys; me turning my back to look at the TP sale rack and turning
back to find him flipping through manga, "Put that down now!" "Why? I
like how it opens backwards." "Yeah. Put it down."

Anyway, it was a lot of fun to spend some time salivating over all the
books, rather than running back to the office or hurrying to catch a
train. It was also nice to share one of my favorite places in the
world with one of my favorite people in the world. I'm glad he's
getting into comics again. I accidentally left my stack at his house
last week and, to my happy surprise, every time I spoke to him he'd
read another issue and wanted to talk about it... of course I hadn't
read them yet, and I had to tell him not to spoil it.
