My Name is Russell Merritt, I am a traditional Japanese Sumi-e artist, Cartoonist and art teacher. I love art, books and comics. I collect comics, Dr. Doom collectibles and all things Vampire.

I recently was published as a contributing Artist in Steve Miller's new book " Hi_Yah, How to draw fantastic martial arts comics. I have also worked with 5th Panel Comics, Cryogenic Comics, Story Art Press and Eclipse.

I am a professor of art for Central Ohio Technical College, where I teach Drawing Fundamentals and History of Graphic Design for the school of digital and gaming design.
As a teacher for the Greater Columbus Art Council's Artists in Schools program, I travel to libraries all over and teach manga and cartooning workshops. I have done residencies and art camps, day camps and weekend art classes.I have also taught in Art Camps, Cub Scout Meetings, Girl Scout groups and the Columbus Neighborhood Pride City art group for inner city kids.
I am a teacher at the Works Museum in Newark, Ohio, where I teach watercolor, sumi-e, kanji, cartooning, comic book art, manga and caricature. I also teach adult art classes at the Zanesville Art Center and at C-Tech. I also speak at schools and festivals and am involved with several summer arts festivals.

My artwork has been in shows throughout Ohio with several awards. My work has been in galleries in Zanesville, Columbus, Coshocton, Worthington, Mansfield, Granville, Heath and Newark.
