Welcome to the ComicSpace for BENT Zine, based in the historic artist colony of Taos, New Mexico.

Billed as a sort of, "Mad Magazine meets The Nation," BENT Zine is a unique print publication.

For starters, we print on newsprint, giving the magazine that old-timey pulp feel.

In the second place, we are not pure comic book. Rather, we print serialized pulp graphic fiction – with a both a BENT sense of humor, and a philosophical BENT that is evident on every, fully illustrated page. Each issue features two to four page episodes of at least five intertwined serialized comic book/ graphic novels. We call this the "BENT Universe," as the five stories follow the "Master Plan," for a larger, later collection to be published in graphic novel format.

The non-graphic content of BENT Zine is, however, fully illustrated. We print no photographs, only fine art and illustration, to go along with our equally BENT written content, which includes in-depth researched articles on obscure and arcane subjects, short fiction, commentary, reviews and poetry (and whatever other oddballs strike our collaborative fancy).

Perhaps most importantly, BENT Zine is a collaborative project. No one is getting paid (yet) – not even the publisher. Rather, the artists and writers are providing their best work in exchange for creative freedom. The result is an philosophically, politically, emotionally, academically, and (of course) artistically challenging read – with each issue entwined with the next and last. Consequently, we have been blacklisted by multiple printshops who have deemed that their corporate right to "protect our employees" is greater than our Constitutionally-guaranteed right to "Freedom of Speech."

Part of our answer to this insidious form of censorship is to publish our past issues on the Internet. This ComicSpace page is part of that answer.

The other parts of that answer are, at present, MySpace and Multiply sites to publicize the work of BENT Zine artists and writers. Please visit our other locations for additional information about this uniquely BENT print and web publication:
