I live and work in Washington, DC. I read lots of comics, mainstream and small press. I also write comics. Most of my writing focus is on something called Fatalysia. I write it. A couple of friends do everything else. We pool our resources to self-publish. It's not cheap, so we are looking for a publisher. I appear regularly at the Small Press Expo. I unceremoniously disappear afterwards. I collect dreams. I may do comic strips based upon them sometime. Someone else probably ought to draw them.

Have a look at our website. I'll wait.

I'm also a life-long comics fan. I like independant comics as well as mainstream superhero stories. I mainly wait for trade paperbacks these days. I'm a fan of Garth Ennis, Neil Gaiman, Serena Valentino, Bryan Hitch, Alex Ross, Harvey Pekar, Frank Cho, R. Crumb, Jack Kirby, Warren Ellis, Stan Sakai, Brian Michael Bendis, Jill Thompson, Amanda Conner, Roman Dirge, Grant Morrison, Jhonen Vasquez, David Finch, Dan Schaffer, Jack Cole, C.C. Beck, Will Eisner, Steve Ditko, Darwyn Cooke, and many others.

Hi there! We’re starting up this year’s Small Press Idol…and wanted to invite you to the grand unveiling of this year’s Guidelines. I apologize for the all-in-one nature of this. At this time, individuals and teams have a little over a month to get things together and be ready to post their Round 1 entries. Round 1 will last till March 25th. It’s a solid window to get a project together and qualified for Round 2 past our judge panel. If you are interested in being a contestant, this is fair warning to get a project going!
If you are a news outlet or resource of any sort, we invite you to help spread the word about Small Press Idol, and get on the official Sponsors and Supporters list on the Idol Main Page. Traditionally, the page has gotten hundreds of thousands of hits a month for the 5 months the contest runs. All we ask in return for the link placement on our prominently placed list, is a link back in some way that is fairly prominent, and that you indeed cover the contest if you are a news site. You can contact us about that right from the guidelines page.
Just want to watch the show? That’s great! Now is time to sign up at the site so you can VOTE in the rounds to come, and post comments about your favorites! We’re expecting hundreds of contestants this year. It should be a lot of fun!

Hope this message reaches you in the spirit it was intended, you are welcome to ask questions, and otherwise make sure this is for real. This is the fourth year for the SPI. Last year’s contest pages are still online. So that’s what this is about, hope it interests you!

Thanks! It's cool that we have so many creators hiding in the DC area.

Hey Liam!

Nice to see D.C. representin'! Fatalysia looks fantastic. Has something of a Tim Burton look to it but it's own style for sure. Great work and thanks for adding me on. Hope to see you at the Expo next year!

Thanks! Nice to see a DC publisher.

Those 14 pages look wonderful. I am actually tempted to buy a copy of Fatalysia... but it would have to waite until after Christmas. only 3$, right? It's a good thing you've kept the price so low or else I wouldn't buy it, but 3$ is what you pay for any serial issue comic. ^^ [serial size, right? 32 pages or somethingish?] Is there only 1 issue out so far? If I bought something, I'd probably want to buy everything at once and save on shipping.

Watch out for Flash Thompson!
