First comic I read: Transformers #9 (1985)
First non-tie Marvel Comic I read: Spectacular Spider-Man #151 (1989) First DC title I read: I think it was probably Robin II: Joker's Wild #1, otherwise it was Superman: Man of Steel #18 (yes, the start of the Death of Superman trilogy) It's only a guesstimate at best, but I have at least 14,000 comics. Earliest comic: Amazing Spider-Man #48 (1967) The largest part of my collection is Spider-Man. As you can probably tell, Spidey is what got me into really reading comics big-time. I have every issue of Amazing from #103-current as well as every issue of other big name, long-running Spider-Man titles including Spectacular and Web of. In fact, as my tag-line says, I was a member of the Spider-Man Expatriates in 1995. It was an online group that boycotted the Spider-Man titles in the mid-90's due to Marvel's stupid decision to reveal in Spectacular Spider-Man #226 that the Spider-Man I had been reading my entire life was a clone! I, as many did, felt that Marvel was saying that the Spider-Man I had been reading was a fake so I joined the boycott. Ironically enough, I went back and bought the issues I missed years later for anywhere from a quarter to a buck an issue. What can I say? I'm a completist! My favorite team is the Justice Society of America. I was first introduced to them in the first issue of James Robinson's The Golden Age (1993). When I hear people say that the reason kid's don't read comics nowadays is because there is too much continuity for a kid to figure out, I think that's bull. I had to read the first issue of The Golden Age probably 6 times before I finally figured out who was who, and I loved every minute of it. It's also what turned me into the JSA fan that I am today. I own several Green Lantern rings (plastic and metal) and a Legion flight ring. My proudest comic moment? That would be when I beat Mark Waid at a comic trivia contest at the Pittsburgh Comic-con in 2004. (I might be mistaken on the date.) I'm more than man enough to admit that 9 times out of 10, Waid would have wiped the floor with me. Luckily, I played him that 10th time. I even amazed myself when I remembered the oath of the Golden Age Green Lantern. I managed to get myself on stage for knowing all the members of the Metal Men. On a similar note, one of the neatest items I have is a copy of "The Life Story of the Flash" signed by Mark Waid. Not only did he sign it, but drew a little doodle on the inside that said "Property of Citizen - Eobard Thawne" with a Flash insignia. The best book I've read recently was Justice Society of America #1. After saying all that, I'm sure it will be an utter shock when I say, "Ladies, I'm available!" ;) bigwilliestyle's BulletinsDisplaying 1-1 of 1 bulletins...
