I write, ink and color a webcomic called SideChicks which is on the Graphic Smash site and on my home page. When I finish a story, I'll place it here too. Give a look and let me know what you think. The Graphic Smash page has a place for comments. My cut of the original art is for sale here. http://www.lonestarpress.com and http://www.graphicsmash.com/comics/sidechicks.phpCurrent Projects- SideChicks- script, inks, and colors HBC- script, inks, and colors Robyn Hood- inks Way back when, I wrote JLU#26 that came out back in October 2006. I co-wrote a couple of issues of Robin with Bill Willingham. Before that, I published comics under the Lone Star Press label. From here on out, it looks like we're just going to be publishing trades starting with the first part of Willingham's PANTHEON series in '07. Books on the NightStand- Robert McKee- StoryEarlier Comic Book Projects- Ex Parte- This series was about an attorney that specialized in extra-human cases. It was a chance to riff on the super- types and to show them more as people than empty spandex suits. And I got to ink a cool cover by Mike Weiringo. (writer/ occasional inker/ occasional colorist) Pantheon- Once upon a time, Bill Willingham wanted the space to have a last word on the spandex-clad archetypes. The limited series ran 13 issues with a little extra material compiled for some eventual trades. I got to ink Mike Leeke, Derec Donovan, Bryan Hagan, Matthew Clark, Paul Ryan, Jeff Moy, Bobby Diaz and Pat Oliffe. (inker) Strange Heroes- Willingham wrote a split book like the old Tales of Suspense book. Otherland had Mary Aravelo and her pal Tanakura struggling to survive in an alien world. Spellbinder had young Tommy Bowen learning to be a combat sorcerer. I got the chance to ink Bobby Diaz and Matthew Clark. (occasional inker) Amazon- Faith, a broken-hearted princess from another planet crashlands her ship in the desert SouthWest and struggles to fit in on her new home planet in this series. Stories about the Amazon ran in the Heroic Tales anthology. Robb Phipps penciled the stories that I was lucky enough to ink. (writer/ co-creator/ inker) Earlier Prose Work- The Killer Outfit- Alan Adams investigates a murderous rampage by his former teammate, the Golden Guardian. In a strange twist, I decided to write a novel using a character created for the Ex Parte comic book series. (writer) Tokyo Pop and Other Quinn Stories- Arthur Quinn has more money than good sense and he proves that in five little stories about five different missing persons. (writer) The Pantheon Script Book- Compiling Bill Willingham's scripts from the Pantheon series would seem to be an easy job, but the typesetting took forever. And I ended up reading the scripts a dozen times each. (editor) These books and more are available for free at Wowio dot com. I thought we were already befriendifyed. Are you going to San Diego? I'm so jealous! The whole gang is going! On the plus side though, I'll be in Chicago visiting my sister next week, and that's probably a more fun town than San Diego. |

I'm not doing the SDCC either. They hosed us on the table, so I'm trying to finish a few things here in Texas.
There is nothing quite like hearing the phrase, "We didn't deposit your check, so we don't owe you a table." to inspire confidence. |

Mike,
Thanks mucho.
I came within a state of being in the city. I was trying to get together with Michael Wright, but I got deathly ill. All better now.
From the Albany airport-

Not a problem Bobby.
As soon as I get a logo designed for HBC (and another packet of pages in), I'll schedule a launch.
I think I can do both SideChicks and HBC.
It will be nice to have the chance to flame out.

Hey, Bill, thanks for the add. I was actually wondering the other day (as I was sorting some old GSG pages) what you've been up to and now I can see for myself. Groovy! |

Nice work, Bill! “One Hit Wonder” was a fun read — and had very nice brushwork. 1 Reply [ Latest posted on February 3rd, 2007 3:24 PM ]

Hey! There's a few of us Austinites here. I think we talked on The Engine about inking once upon a time. Much luck with Steady Beat.

Hello Bill. I was happy to have a pin-up in Pantheon, a book I enjoyed. I like your inks and have some regret about inking my pin-up of Minerva instead of seeing what you might have done with it. Good to see you here. 1 Reply [ Latest posted on December 26th, 2006 10:20 PM ]

Michael,
I thought the Minerva pinup looked good. It usually takes me a while to get the hang of a new penciler, so I might not be good for pinups. But good to see you here too.

Any chance you would ever revisit the Ex Parte property? In a world where there's always a Law & Order repeat showing every hour of the day, I think there'd be an audience for the book. Thanks for the add. |
