Me,Me and MEME!!

I hail from the fairest of states- the Buckeye State. I am a professional artist and I am finishing a 2nd degree in Art Education. Comix are new to me and I was delightfully surprised by all the genre.

I hope you laugh yourself silly this year! And, remember you can't tickle yourself, so play nice and share with others.

The search for a good story...

I have always loved to read and even into adulthood find myself on the eternal quest for what can be termed a "good story." I am not a literary snob, but I have found myself forever reading the classics- Salinger, Kunderea, Dickinson (but who doesn't fall in and out of love with Miss Emily) too many to list and well-worn-covers line my bookshelves.

Human beings need to tell stories. Historically, it’s the quickest way we have for transmitting useful information. Stories are not just nice things to have, they are essential survival tools. And yes, the stories we tell ourselves are just as important than the stories we tell other people.

So where does your story fit into other people’s narrative? How does telling your story become a survival tool for other people? These are questions that have been tackled by writing and drawing comics.

If people like your story, it’s because its a story that helps fill in the narrative gaps in their own lives.
Narrative gaps. It’s all about the narrative gaps.

Charcoal Drawings

These are my latest drawings. I use a charcoal that is easy to smear to create lots of shadows and subltle tones. The overall effect is more painterly than lines. Hope you enjoy!

I tried to send puppies but the US Postal Service just isn't very careful. And to think of all time I wasted stapling "Fragile" stickers all over those dogs.

Shame, really.

So, now you just win my respect. I pick a new Top3 every Monday (though I took this Monday off because I'm lazy)

I'm still new at the whole comix thang, but just like anything in life, I'm learning as I go. So, be patient with me and eventually I will get my sense of direction... which way is North?
