Take your pick! Our flagship title Shades falls somewhere between action/adventure and super hero with a few "big themes" thrown in for good measure; The Spires is fantasy mixed with a touch of political wheeling and dealing; Lee Munday's The Lumbering Dead is painfully funny slice-of-life without all the angsty females and geeky stereotypes; and Hunted which we'll be starting soon is a fresh take on the vampire genre. Oh and we've lots of SciFi shorts, too! |

A comment about your review of Identity Crisis, if I may: you mentioned in the Artwork section of the review:
"The first is a very small complaint. In this book, the "Big Three" (Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman) are usually kept on the edges of the action. When they do appear, rather than being given a clear view of the characters, we are often given extreme close-ups of their costumes ... what Meltzer calls their "iconography". That's fine if the character has a bat-insignia or an S-shield stretched across his manly chest but, for Wonder Woman, it means we're treated instead to a close up of her cleavage or, in one scene, a star-spangled crotch-shot. That's really not too respectful!"
About Wonder Woman's iconography, well, the problem is that iconography appears on parts of her body deemed sexually suggestive. For example, Superman and Batman's symbols appear on their chests. All well and good right, because a man's chest is not sexually suggestive to most people. Wonder Woman though, has the double W's on her chest, and close-ups of a woman's chest are definitely sexually suggestive to most men and even a few women. Same with the stars, which are on the bottom half of her costume, on parts of her body that are quite suggestive to many people.
What I'm trying to say is, don't blame the artist on Identity Crisis for the "disrespectful" close-ups, blame the guys who originally designed Wonder Woman's costume in the first place-they were the ones who put the stars on her crotch and butt, and the double W's across her cleavage! 1 Reply [ Latest posted on March 11th, 2007 5:48 AM ]

There's some truth in that. Personally, though, I don't blame the guys who designed the costume because, well, in the first place I like WW's costume(!) and, in the second, if you know that's what you're dealing with, then you don't choose to use those shots.
Just to clarify, however, the review blames the writer; not the artist for these choices. Meltzer makes it quite clear that the "iconography" shots were his idea and that he argued strongly for their inclusion.
Thanks for reading the review, though, and for the feedback. I don't do many of these but with those two books, I felt compelled! |

Hey-- I really enjoyed the "teaser" stuff you put up here! I'll have to go and check out the full versions on your site!
Isn't the internet a wonderful thing? All you need is a computer and an idea and you can show it to the entire world. 1 Reply [ Latest posted on February 26th, 2007 8:57 AM ]

Thanks, John ... It's a bit of a two-edged sword, I tend to think. Everyone can see it, but only if anyone can find it! Hope you enjoy it now that you have! - DAJB. |

DAJB-- Thanks for stopping by and checking out Scarlet Crush. While Stormbringers is not my creation, I still hope it's successful! I'm currently hard at work on other creator owned properties that I'll be posting teaser art up for on my page soon.
Thanks again for the kind words! |

Had to peep out THE HOUSE THAT DRAC BUILT as per your bulletin. Even though that was your early work... it was hilarious! Kinda' reminded me of a cartoon called FRACTURED FAIRY TALES.... in it's comedic styling.

Thanks, Pat! Didn't know I had any comedic styling back in those dim and distant days. Except insofar as my hair was concerned, obviously. Hope you're enjoying the more recent stuff too! |
