Current Projects:

ONe of my New Year's resolution is to do more work. Like pin-ups and just to do a a better job of doing as Warren Ellis coined "whorebaggery".

Anyone got anything for me. Anybody want anything from me, I can promise it might be fairlypretty but would be ontime.

Oh and if you have any good music to work to give me a list. I need some help.

Oh here's hoping Josh has time to add a blog module to this thing. :)

Current Projects:

In the works, I am working on my first super heavy sketchbook, all pencil and some inks and it will look fat. I hope. When it's done, I will be giving away previews to anyone who wants a copy. Limit 10 but if you get one you have to send me your opinion good or bad.

Also I am working on finishing my new site on which to also seel my sketchbooks, posters, commissions, and a way to whore myself further.

About Me:

I am a graphic designer, digital artist, and illustrator. My work focuses on horror and fantasy art. I have also branched out into concept design and storyboards or at least I am trying to.

Because I know you care, my favorite genre of comics are: sci-fi operas, horror, my weakness for Vertigo books still lives, pulp/crime/noir, high adventure retro stuff and some independent/overseas stuff. In others almost everything except most superhero stories.

Don't ask me about novels, that list is so large I would need another comicspace account.

There has been a lot of unpleasant and pleasant changes in my life and I am seeing it as a kick in the pants to do a better job at becoming truly productive. I doubt this will help completley in the end it's all up to me but I like comicgeeks (In that safe PBS way!)

Life's weird, I have a hairless cat who drinks out the fishbowl, a cat who like to sit on my shoulder and I still can't solve the rubix cube.

Some Influences:

Mike Mignola, Ryan Sook, Jock, Tomm Coker, Carlos Pacheco, Roberto Mandrafina, Jorge Zaffino, Juanjo Guarnido, Kevin Knowlan, Nick Manabat, Rudy Nebres, Jason Pearson, Tex, Alan Davis, JH WIlliams III, John Paul Leon, Tommy Lee Edwards, Mark Schultz

First let me thank you for accepting my ADD. I also would love to see your sketch book. Since you are in the DC area maybe we can get together sometime and talk about this crazy industry.

Hopefully busy in the next 6 months , with a website to put up. As well as a sketchbook to get done, not to mention a sketchblog to maintain.
I am hoping to start doing a lot more now that my life is no longer on hyperspeed.

I tell people this, best way to get with a publisher is through email. Just asking what people might want and having them look at a art page you might have.

Seems like it is easier to get with an indie publisher then the Big 4. That is the easiest and best way to go about it. All of these publishers ask for different things, which is why I am stuck doing animorph stuff right now. He he!

I did horror stuff for awhile, it is over on www.comixfree.com. So check it out.

The funny thing is that I am happy being a graphic designer and If I am doing comics, I am ok doing the indie stuff and my own personal which I am working on.

But you are rigth if I am going to start having reltionships with companies, I should stalk some editors

[ Posted by mickmoart on Dec 15th, 2006 1:56 AM ]...

Silly me, I forgot to tell you which shows I was going to...LOL!

I am going to try to make it into a Freecon in Laurence, Kansas and whatever I can do during the year. The last show I went to was with Eddie Campbell, that was Mo-Kan Comix Consipracy 2004.

I do need another show again, even if it is a store signing or something.

[ Posted by mickmoart on Dec 14th, 2006 9:06 PM ]...

I was lucky, I was contributing with Kjartan Arnosson in the Icelandic comics scene before one of us got into Radio Comix. But he was the first, before me.

It takes forever to get with Radio Comix, but it is worth it, in the end. I think it took well over 2 years to get my first story published with them, Furrlough 157.

I did The Artifact when I was sitting at convention tables with Dave Bryant, I remember that. Then after those first few stories, it snowballed for me.

Dedication can be a good thing.

Heh, I am trying to get with a few shows in the new year myself. I accomplished my goal this year, wanting to be in 10 comics in a years time that were through Diamond. It actually took me 7 months and a series of waits, but I did it dude.

So I am greatful for Radio Comix and Antarctic Press this year for the publisher backing.

I cranked out stories left and right in 2006. Mostly for Furrlough though.

If my hand can hold up, I will do more here. Heh!

Hey bro, what is up in your world?

Hope things are cool there.
