Header: Alterna Comics News: Want to write a comic for children??
Bulletin: We know what you're thinking...
"children's comics???"

Yes, they are notorious for being "cutesy" or "simple" and children's comics always tend to provide watered down crap that an adult can barely toleratet. Well, we're not out to make those kinds of comics.

When submitting your comic to the Alterna Children's line - please consider the following:

*Is your comic written for kids but also adult friendly?

*Is the subject matter of a simple nature but still imaginative and intelligent?

*Is it a one-shot story or is it an ongoing or mini-series (we prefer one-shots but if you've got something great for a contained series, then please let us know!)

*Is it in black and white?

*Does your comic include at least one activity that the child reader can do? Yes, we are encouraging kids to draw/color in the
comic. And yes...we are aware that kids "aren't" supposed to color comics - but hey...why not?

If you've answered 'yes' to all those questions, then please go ahead and submit your comic to us!
We need to see at least 5 sequential pages, 1 script, a synopsis of the issue/series, age/demographic information, and genre.
Superhero works are welcome as long as it's nothing too complex (bad guys are bad - good guys are good). If you do submit a superhero idea for the children's line, please don't try to copy another already known superhero. And if you do end up "copying" make sure it is only for the use of parody. We wouldn't want other creators copying our ideas, so we definitely wouldn't copy theirs.

ALSO - all of our children's comics will be tied to a charity of the creator(s) choice!
50% of all profits from each book sold will go towards the charity of the creator(s) choice (about $1 per book sold)
So you'll be making great comics for kids that will not only entertain but will help out your community!

We've already talked to St. Jude's children's hospital about not only supplying some of these comics to the children there, but also including them in our list of charities. We want to make a difference in both the children comics medium and in the lives of the children who read them.

And last but not least, send your submission to our
Children's line submissions director, Michael Bracco.

Thank you!
Your friends at Alterna Comics
