| Header: | Its Official - Quackenbush vs Hero Signed For Anniversario? | ||
| Bulletin: | ![]() Two years, CHIKARA fans. Its been over two years since Chris Hero viciously turned his back on Mike Quackenbush in the finals of Tag World Grand Prix 2005. And since that day, February 20th, 2005, Quackenbush, along with Leonard Chikarason and countless others, have tried every way imaginable to secure a singles contest between Quack and Hero, to no avail. Though their paths have crossed in a number of multi-man tag matches since then, Quack has never had the chance at the one-on-one encounter that could definitively prove which of these two were the better man. That is until this past Sunday at Rey de Voladores. After defeating Claudio Castagnoli with a below-the-belt foul that occurred while Quackenbush (the special referee) was taking care of Larry Sweeney's interference on the outside, Chris Hero stood alone in the ring basking in all his self-congratulating glory. And after two years spent on an undeniable tear that included several historic tag-team championship runs, tours in Mexico, tours in Europe, tours with Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan, and a general dominance in independent wrestling companies across America, Chris Hero finally decided he was ready to go one-on-one once again with Mike Quackenbush. Hero called Quackenbush to the ring, and talked to him about the past two years and the rivalry between the two, and how things were different now and that Hero was now the better man. He then said, in typically patronizing Chris Hero fashion, that all Quack had to do was shake his hand and the match would be his. Not surprisingly, Quackenbush was suspicious of this being yet another ruse for Hero to get a cheap shot in What was a surprise thoug, was the way in which Hero responded to suspicion - by getting down on his knees with one hand behind his back to shake Quackenbush's hand. The two took finally shook hands, and the match was made was sealed with in shocking fashion, as Quack spun the handshake into a wristlock and stepped on Hero's throat so that he could tell him "I'll see you at Anniversario, buddy." And with that, the biggest singles match in CHIKARA history has been signed. On Saturday, May 26th in Hellertown, PA, after two years of waiting, it will be Mike Quackenbush vs. Chris Hero one-on-one in a CHIKARA ring. And while Chris Hero may not say many things that we agree with here at the CHIKARA offices, we do have to agree with him that things are much different now than they were two years ago. Both men are now even more well-rounded and accomplished wrestlers than they were two years ago. Both have traveled the globe and taken on the best this sport has to offer. But more importantly than those changes, as Chris Hero found out this past Sunday, is the fact that two years off chasing down Hero has given Quackenbush a much harder edge than we normally see from him. This is no longer just about a competitive rivalry, or a blindside attack - its about two years worth of frustration, animosity, and mind games, and you'd better believe that its going to be something special. And we don't mind telling you, the only way to experience a match like this is LIVE. You need be there to feel the excitement the air and see the action up close and personal. Which is why you need to make plans to join us in Hellertown, PA on Saturday, May 26th for the first night of our fifth-anniversary weekend, Anniversario? Tickets are just $15 and doors open at 7PM for a 7:30 belltime. In addition to the Quackenbush/Hero match, which is worth the price of admission alone, you'll be treated to 8 other big time matches which we will be announcing here on the MySpace and over at CHIKARAPRO.com during the next few weeks. So stay tuned, and spread the word....things are getting real interesting here in CHIKARA! ![]() |
