| Bulletin: | ![]() Rise and shine, CHIKARA pals! Today is something of a bittersweet day for us here at CHIKARA, as this is the last day you can purchase our first-ever Pod-Per-View extravaganza from iTunes. So if you still haven't gotten your eyes on that 35-minute masterpiece, you'd better do it ASAP, because it''ll be gone by this afternoon. That's the bitter part of our day so far, but here's the sweetness - since today is the last day of the Pod-Per-View, we can finally start talking about some of the major announcements from the show, including the huge rematch that was announced for Aniversario? in Hellertown... Kingston/Hallowicked II. What we thought had started out as an emotional, heat of the moment reaction on the part of Eddie Kingston (does he have any other kind?) at Time Will Prove Everything has quickly revealed itself to be something much different. Kingston didn't attack Hallowicked after the bell out of frustration at the fact that he was pinned, King attacked Hallowicked simply because of the praise OTHER people have given Hallowicked over the years, often calling him "the best of all the CHIKARA graduates." Kingston, a fellow graduate of the CHIKARA school (though a few classes after Hallowicked) had taken great offense to those statements over time, and kept them bottled up inside until the moment was finally prime to let them all spill out. And being that this IS professional wrestling, we weren't totally shocked at how these events unfolded in Hellertown - things like pride, jealousy and ego are the motivations for just about every match you've ever seen. Kingston's ego wanted to prove that he is better than Hallowicked, and the real top student from the Chikara Wrestle Factory. Hallowicked's pride wanted a shot a revenge for being attacked and to shut Kingston up once and for all. So we let them settle the dispute at Rey de Voladores. Or at least, that was the idea. What it actually turned out to be was one the most brutal and remorseless assaults in CHIKARA history, as Kingston saw it fit to jump Hallowicked on the entrance ramp before the bell, leading to a wild brawl that got so out of hand, the match that had never even been officially started was thrown out the window. In the ensuing chaos of CHIKARA officials trying to separate the two men, Kingston got the better of Hallowicked, and left him for dead with several running yazkuza kicks and an exploder suplex to the floor. We'd be lying if told you that, even after 5 years in business, we weren't shocked and disgusted by Kingston's actions on April 22nd. Especially after he had just spent nearly 6 months dealing with the near-criminal levels of violence that his feud with Larry Sweeney had produced and 4 months after that dealing with a severely broken ankle. You would think that Kingston would have developed a greater sense of respect for the fact that, while you are always trying to beat your opponent in the ring, you're never trying to end his career. But apparently, Kingston hasn't learned a damn thing in the past year. He's still the same Eddie Kingston he always was, only this time he might be even more nihilistic and ruthless than ever before. Which brings us to today, and the match that Hallowicked has DEMANDED for Aniversario? in Hellertown. There was much debate and tons of hesitation in signing this bout, but at the end of the day, Hallowicked has had his pride damaged two months running, and if we don't let him settle his issue with Kingston inside a CHIKARA ring, there's no telling when or how it would get handled and how bad the outcome would be. Kingston, surprisingly, was quick to sign off on this rematch. We get the feeling from his visit to our offices two weeks ago that he was only signing on to the match so that he would have one more shot at putting Hallowicked out of wrestling for good. Hallowicked, it seems, is also is something of a similar mindset now, as he realizes exactly what Kingston's intentions are coming into Hellertown, and exactly what's going to be required to stop him. It's not going to be pretty, it's not going to be a technical masterpiece, but we can tell you this - Kingston/Hallowicked II is going to be one hell of a fight, and something that you're not going to want to miss experiencing LIVE on Saturday, May 26th in Hellertown, Pa at the American Legion Hall (935 Main St) as CHIKARA closes out year five with Aniversario? Doors open at 7 PM with a 7:30 belltime, and tickets, as always, are just $15. |
