Dear all,
I am licensed and commanded to tell you a little bit about the Artist known as Chinook. His early childhood remains somewhat a mystery, as he doesn’t recall his birth, although he does remember his mid child period. From the age of six he was the property of a travelling Circus, where he was a stand in midget for some particularly death defying stunts involving three white Siberian Tigers, a unicycle, papier-mâché long johns, a hooter, blindfold, half a pound of raw salami and a canister of itching powder. After enduring this debacle for several years he was able to successfully escape this life of greasepaint, elephant droppings and small-handed people on the fourth attempt and found himself in the Mythical land of Wales. Here he spent the next twelve years drinking strong liquors, listening to extreme Heavy Metal and teaching himself to draw whilst drunk.
After a series of uncanny life changing events and a two-year hangover, Chinook found himself miriclously enrolled on a Bachelor of Arts Degree course in Graphic Design at a university in Birmingham Town. There he battled with his lecturers for supremacy over his drawing style and subject matter. In his final year he walked out as he realized he hated college and they hated him. The only thing that had kept him sane (?) through these dark and troubled times was his love of comics, in particular D.R & Quinch by Alan Moore. With this firmly in his mind he decided to make it his mission to break into the world of comic illustration and promptly and decisively started working in pubs. This venture endured for several years more than he intended. Too this day, Chinook has a fear of being in control of drunken people whilst sober and has sworn defiantly that he will stay on the right side of the bar!
We now leap forward a couple of years and find the artist living in Brighton, where he has learned to dance with rhythm and finesse and is scraping a living by being a ‘corporate illustration monkey’. This period lasts only briefly as Chinook decides, once again, that this is not his bag. He stuck two-fingers up to the world of freelance design, which is just as well as he wasn’t making any money and everyone thought his drawings were ‘weird’. After much pondering, Chinook realizes that what he really wants to do is draw weird things doing weirder stuff and the only solution is to be a comic artist and cartoonist, something the Department of Works and Pensions [uk], who currently pay his living expenses on a fortnightly basis are keen to endorse.
Chinook tends to draw from his considerably dark and twisted imagination and has a dry sense of humour bordering on the black, something he is very keen to share with others. He is working on the following which all should see the light of day early 2007.

“ The Curse of Gin Town” A monthly monochrome comic title.
“ Dr Dolken’s Beastly Beastiary ” A weekly comic encyclopedia.
“ Crunt’s Irregular Monthly” A sporadic comic anthology.
“ The Astounding Adventures of Captain Hotshot ” Space age comic madness.
“ Run Davey Spencer…Run! ” A childrens book that will scare kid’s silly, (Chinooks own words)

All these are works in progress and will be drawn and published after he has finished his cigerette…

Finally, I have been asked to say that if you have had a friend request from Chinook on this site, then he would like it to be known that he has personally looked up each and everyone of you and spent hours checking out your links and likes everything he saw and has made the request on this basis. He looks forward, as do I and all at 1811 Press, to liasing with all you writers, artists, fellow comiciteers and illustrators through this marvellous COMICSPACE contraption in the near future.

Kindest regards,
Rufrick J. Crunt (Proprietor, Editor, Publisher 1811 Press)

Thanks, and the same to you! As long as we get to draw, I know it'll be a good year.

I've made the same mistake myself, actually. My brother, who's my only living relative, lives in Dallas. He says George W. Bush would do just fine if all the lefty a**holes would only leave him alone and let him do his job. He further says that people like you and me can't possibly understand Mr. Bush's decisions, because he knows so much more than mere mortals. He also thinks I should draw sweeter comics, lighter and brighter with no weird stuff. Hmmm. There's just something about Texas. On one visit he took me to the local pub, where a country band was playing. After a few drinks, I stood up and yelled, "Doesn't anybody here know how to rock and roll?!" He was horrified. "Sweet Jesus," he yelled at me, "are you trying to get us lynched?" He put my coat over my head and rushed us out of the pub. I suppose that was for the best, all in all.

Eight hours sounds about right. I'm in Kansas City, straight north of Houston. I'm the liberal pearl in the conservative right oyster of the gently waving ocean of grain that is Kansas. Lucky me!

Amazing. You've experimented a lot. So, it's what, seven hours later in the UK than in KC. You inspired me; I need to experiment more, too.

Chinook, I find myself wanting to see your work. Have you seen Webcomicsnation? They have free (or paid) sites made for comic creators. Of course, in a couple of weeks you can post things here, too. Thanks for including me in your list. I've been to Europe but not UK. Even so, I know I'd love it and never want to leave.

ty for the genuine add and not the bot like approach other press takes. i'm looking forward to all these things you have launching in 2007 but particularly the frightening children's book. i think we all still have the proverbial monsters in the closet that kept us awake at night as children. i love work that taps into this. anyway, nice to meet you. :)
