Oh my god....I actually typed something here.
Hi folks. The name here is quite obvious but hey I figure I'd update folks as to what I do. I'm a writer/editor and am currently in the process of setting up a production studio with a group of very talented folks and I've become very excited to see the products that we are producing come to fruition as time goes on. It's a slow process with our artist suffering some setbacks and having no real time between working and being a father that it slowed the production down. it doesn't matter though. Some things are more important than a comic and really if it takes 3 years to get the project done it takes three years. it's his baby and I've been totally geeking out when I do get stuff in knowing that the book once it's all said and done will be a thing of absolute beauty and will be worth the wait for the initial arc which won't even submitted to anyone until we are completely finished. Needless to say though it is a work of beauty and I am absolutely honored to be working on the project with them. and no lying here. It is quite possibly the best script I have ever worked on. Outside of that I've been working alongside my friends at Septagon Studios. Helping their initial wave get off the ground and really being excited about the products they are producing. The mindset f being sort of an alternative comics company actually makes me happy with seeing a definitive mission statement. No tights, no generic artwork. We want dark we want gritty and we want truly unique products on the market. I think that is what is important. Getting books out there that have a unique feel that can attract the attention of people right off the stands. Seriously though. when it is released, Check out Scorn from Kevin Moyers and Phil Neundorff. The guys artwork in the book is completely nuts. a very templesmithian style....very fell....scratchy as hell but somehow still comes off clean and unique. You'll enjoy it if you like grit. I also run comic related events here in Eugene which does take up a lot of time. Over the last couple of years I've helped put together a summertime comic convention here in eugene which was definitely a fun interesting deal. took a ton of time and work but it was always worth it sadly though with last years somewhat flopping I've decided to move on to organizing smaller events such as what I am working on right now. I'm setting up what I will call Graphic Novel Days. the initial trial will be in June this year where I will be inviting 2 creators (an artist and a writer) to come and speak to middle schools in the area. this year it's at a smaller test school and if it is successful I hope to organize more of them for next year at different schools around the area with a bigger selection of creators. What else is there. Other than doing reviews here and there that's about it between work and comics I have no free time so that's where you will find me....in comics...whether it's the message boards or somewhere else....I'll always be a part of the comic community....being a jackass and ranting about the glory of Mogo. As he is within all of us....Hail the great Mogo and listen to his word. |
