I was looking for the cover of Bart Simpson #34 published Bongo Comics until I noticed that Bongo Comics, the company set up by Matt Groening and other associates to publish comic books related to animated series by the former, doesn't have a real Web site.

The domain has been reserved, but it's impossible it's still unused. Seems like for Bongo Comics, having a presence on the Internet is not a priority. I can understand that. How many people even bother commenting on Simpons' comics on the Internet.

Well, usually such comments are found on Simpsons' related Web sites, not comic book sites.

A lot of publishers who don't necessarily sell to the core North American comic book market don't really have to cater to guys like us. I'm not blaming Bongo for anything. If it was worthwhile for them, they would have a site already.

Perhaps fans and parents looking for information on their products, can find it in the many fan sites about the Simpsons. Well, I couldn't. Sure there are lots of sites on the Simpsons, but none listed complete solicitations. Perhaps Bongo doesn't even release monthly solicitations to the press, outside of the Diamond Comics' catalogue.

There is a whole wide world besides Diamond Comics and the direct market. It's often easier for sites like The Comic Book Bin to cover material from the direct market. The rules are set and it's easy to get information.

What it means is that we at The Comic Book Bin, will have to work a little harder to cover all of comic books. It means I will have to manually scan my personal copy if Bart Simpson #34 if I ever want to post that review online. It's more effort on my part. I haven't scanned a comic book for a review in years. But it's worth it.
