On the scene for a short while, I'm a reader and critic. I am an irregular contributor to "The Salon" and pride myself on my encyclopaedic knowledge of all things comics & films.

I like comics: my collection

I don't manage a small comics store anymore, as the 'owner' felt it was a one-man business, and could no longer spare the pitiful wage he was paying me. Serves me right.

I can't shut up about comics at my blog

Talk to me!

Thanks for the kind words, and thanks for accepting my friend request. While sitting here eating I took a moment and scanned some of the ComicSpace list. Hit a few names I thought were interesting. Yours came up and I read the profile. Nice.

Hi!
I have just read book one of Bomb Queen, WMD & I love it!
At first I wasn't at all sure I could get into it, but this is good stuff! Consider yourself pimped in my store! I like it (almost) as much as Adam Warren's Empowered.
Looking forward to reading books 2 e.f.

Thanks!

Fangs Fer Bein' My ComicSpace Fiend! ~ Chops!

[ Posted by Dimestore on Jan 12th, 2007 8:38 AM ]...

Hi there! We’re starting up this year’s Small Press Idol…and wanted to invite you to the grand unveiling of this year’s Guidelines. I apologize for the all-in-one nature of this. At this time, individuals and teams have a little over a month to get things together and be ready to post their Round 1 entries. Round 1 will last till March 25th. It’s a solid window to get a project together and qualified for Round 2 past our judge panel. If you are interested in being a contestant, this is fair warning to get a project going!
If you are a news outlet or resource of any sort, we invite you to help spread the word about Small Press Idol, and get on the official Sponsors and Supporters list on the Idol Main Page. Traditionally, the page has gotten hundreds of thousands of hits a month for the 5 months the contest runs. All we ask in return for the link placement on our prominently placed list, is a link back in some way that is fairly prominent, and that you indeed cover the contest if you are a news site. You can contact us about that right from the guidelines page.
Just want to watch the show? That’s great! Now is time to sign up at the site so you can VOTE in the rounds to come, and post comments about your favorites! We’re expecting hundreds of contestants this year. It should be a lot of fun!

Hope this message reaches you in the spirit it was intended, you are welcome to ask questions, and otherwise make sure this is for real. This is the fourth year for the SPI. Last year’s contest pages are still online. So that’s what this is about, hope it interests you!

Betty boop is a cool comicshop, thx for selling my mini-comics there. So comicsexpert, quick question: what was the last incarnation of the Image (extreme studios) title Bloodstrike? And who was the the "underground" creator involved? Cheers and love the blog. groetjes Rob

Thanks for the kind words. Delighted you like the blog (though it's hard to get started up there again)
Your trivia's easy Haha,
Codename:Bloodstrike (or something) done by Rick Veitch I believe it was, though only one issue was ever finished/published/w'ever. I don't think Extreme was still Image by then or even if it was Extreme (and not Awesome). I don't like Liefeld related stuff though.
So what do I get now?
Have you seen Liefeld's page on here by the way? Hilarious.

Rob, I enjoyed having you around. Would love to be able to "keep" you & will attempt some more pimping of your stuff.
Be seeing you

Well expert, you get a no-prize. It was Cabbot: Bloodhunter written and drawn by Rick Veitch (love the guy especially Maximortal stuff). Published bu Maximum Press and a cover by Platt. I think Liefeld is the Ed Wood of comics, he gets paid to do art? Gotta love the guy.

PM me and I'll set you up in Dimestore as a retailer...we definitely need more retailer voices helping us guide the Distro development.

Don't trust this man! He's only after your money. I mean, if I buy comics from him, he keeps showing me other good comics in my face. My wallet hates him!!
kusjes ;)

Arnout,
I wish we could have finished the story of 21Down and made Resistance 12 issues like I'd originally hoped but that's the comics game. Right now Jimmy and I are doing one book for WS, Friday the 13th, but that might be it for a while. Thanks for the kind words.

Keep up the good work, yourself!

Cheers,
