Me: I've collected comics since the dark days of the 80's, and have worked in a comic store for the last six years.

My comic interests: I think it was the Frank Miller run on Daredevil that really made me realize comics could be something more than someone running around in tights. I was a DD fan for a long time, but as I've gotten older and have learned more about the history of comics, I've actually started to lean towards EC comics, with a specific interest in Johnny Craig.

What I'm reading now: Very little "spandex comics" as I call them, with the exception of Daredevil, which I think is stronger than it's been in years.

-Fables
-Y the Last Man
-Powers
-Criminal
-Walking Dead
-Scott Pilgrim
-100 Bullets
-Daredevil

Titles I recommend to people who don't know where to start: (In addition to the above, of course.)

-Kingdom Come
-Pride of Baghdad
-Maus
-Sin City
-Sleeper
-Black Sad
-Captain America (the Ed Brubaker stuff)

What I'll never recommend

-Watchmen (oh, I KNOW- blasphemy, isn't it?!)
-Jeph Loeb
-Michael Turner
-Jim Lee
-Rob Freakin' Liefeld
-Jim Balent

Misc.

I've got a small site that focuses on comics mentioned in "The Seduction of the Innocent". You can find that over at my amateurish Geocities site.

That's awesome! My wife and I watch 'the 'F' word' and Ramsey's Kitchen nightmares on BBC here in the states. As well as 'Hells Kitchen' when it's on.

It was also Frank Miller's Daredevil (and Wolverine) that made me realise exactly how much potential there is, in some characters. His Born Again story is one of my all time favourite reads. The Kevin Smith era wasn't shabby, either. I stopped buying DD at around the Decalogue story. I must get hold of the graphic novels of that and later stories.

Hi Lorene -- yeah, those Catholic League goofs are pretty silly. Besides the threat that comics pose, they are also afraid of horror movies that feature Satanic villains. You'd think they'd be into that, but no ...

And you're probably right about the Wonder Woman fantasies ...
