| Bulletin: | Dearest friends and family of the monkey, We have good news and bad news. The bad news first. We have found it unfortunately necessary to move all operations to our new Sandy store at the end of August. The Gateway store will stay open into the first week or so of September, but by mid-September it will be closed. Some of you may have expected this, but the decision to close down Gateway was a painful and difficult one for us to make. We never planned on opening a second store; we originally only wanted to move our Gateway store to a larger location. When the Sandy location presented itself we liked it, but felt it was too far to move the Gateway store to. We decided to try running 2 stores to see if it could satisfy our need to grow, but still keep up our commitment to customer service and quality product. The experiment has become larger financially and physically than we had calculated. We feel we need to step back and refocus our priorities. The good news is we will still be the same great store you know and love. The secret of our success is no secret. We love comics, and lots of them, and we have for a long, long time. Our top priority has always been serving the greater good of comics by showcasing as much as we could, and connecting people with material we know they love, but haven't had a chance to come across yet. Paying the bills, and us, has always been our 2nd or 3rd priority. We're certainly not changing our priorities; we're just consolidating to ensure we can keep track of the immense quantity of new and old material, while at the same time serving your individual needs as quickly and completely as possible. Most of you have had a chance to visit the new store and know that it is a far superior retail space with at least 4-5 times the square footage of the Gateway store. By late September, we'll have consolidated two stores and three storage spaces worth of comic books and related inventory into one big beautiful place. We're also excited to be doing comics retailing in Portland, one of the best comic cities in the country. We are extremely lucky to have as neighbors some of the most talented artists and writers to ever put pen to paper, and you probably haven't even heard of some of them. Our new space will allow us to regularly showcase artists and talents we think need a bigger audience. And we can have events there sometimes. It'll be neat. We also plan to have extended hours beginning in mid-September, to help accommodate any inconvenience our move might cause our loyal customers. This will also allow Andy and Adam the opportunity to see our regulars more often instead of repeatedly missing each other from bouncing back and forth from store to store. The Gateway store allowed us to grow and spread roots in the Portland Comics Community. It allowed us to share our passion with so many of you, which has been by far the most gratifying aspect of the experience. The friendships we have made continue to astonish and enrich us. We hope you'll stay with us as we continue to evolve, and all become better people through comics.
