| Bulletin: | Michael Lent's PREY on Pulse!Readers of the PULSE probably already saw today's fantastic interview with Michael Lent, the Hollywood producer/screenwriter who wrote the original screenplay upon which the graphic novel Prey: Origin of the Species is based. Michael is a great guy who's heavily involved with the Creative Screenwriting Magazine's Screenwriter's Expo in Los Angeles every year, and he's a wonderful filmmaker to boot! Michael is also well known for a book he wrote called Breakfast with Sharks which is "A Screenwriter's Guide to Getting the Meeting, Nailing the Pitch, Signing the Deal, and Navigating the Murky Waters of Hollywood". But if you missed the piece, here's a snippet: THE PULSE: How is working on this different than screenwriting? LENT: Working on a comic book is very similar to producing a movie, which I've done a few times now. Lots of extremely talented people working really hard on deadline to make the project all it can be. For about a year, every morning when I would turn on my computer there would be emails or work waiting for me literally from all over the world. Artist Bong Dazo is in the Phillipines -- Alex Sanchez is in New York. Colorist Ric Costa is in Brazil. Lettering in the UK by Simon Bowland and Matt Moylan. One time I flew to Upstate New Yoprk and then drove 30 miles to meet adapter Mike Raicht for lunch but that was the only in-person interaction I had with most of the team. Of course there's more. Read it here: http://www.comicon.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=36;t=006 205 On a related note, Prey experienced a delay at the distributor, but is expected to hit stores on Wednesday, April 25th. Some bookstores are not taking any more pre-orders, but most comic book stores will, as well as Amazon.com. And, since the book's priced at the sensible low cover price of $10.99, you owe it to yourself to own a copy!
