Hello, I'm Umar and I'm addicted to being a fanboy. {Hi, Umar.) I call myself Dafixer, it's my online handle. (Handles were really cool in the 1970's even if you didn't have a CB radio, but you could always put the hammer down.) My addiction started like they all do, first I was presented with free samples, got hooked now I'm pimped by companies who probably don't even know my name - which pretty much leaves out the FBI and Police. (Don't ask.) I was born a poor Black child (okay, a middle class Black child but under Reganomics that was kinda-sorta poor.) My first fix came when I was a tender age of 6 my oldest sister executed a brilliant covert plan to get kinda-sorta alone with her boyfriend and dragged me to the movies to see the flick of the day, 2001: A Space Odessy. While they experimented with lip osmosis I was blown away by something like I've never seen before. It was awe-inspiring, breath taking, I had my first epithany...but don't go by my reaction then because at 6, in 1968 The Blob scared the <*bleep*> out of me.
At the tender age of 8 my oldest brother, upon failing to come to a reasonable accord with our parents on the rights of teenagers vs. who pays the rent, gave me three milk crates stacked with comics. There were Supermans and Batmans and Fantastic Fours with this silver dude on a surf board, there were Legion of Super Heroes and the Flash, and Betty & Veronicas (don't ask), and then I saw it. A big grey guy smashing through a wall being attacked by extras from I Claudius, a guy on the stairs wearing a skirt waving a sword (*snicker* "guy in a skirt" *snicker* - hey, I was eight.) And the first word I ever read right leap at me in big stone letters - HULK.
Since then I've been a fanboy. I've missed very few cool movies, and I have so many long boxes we almost lost one of the children amongst them during a move. No matter what, on comic day I was there to get the books, though I have to admit it was way easier to get them on my 20 dollar a week allowance then it is today now that I have to actually earn my money. (I mean really, where in the parent/child contract does it say they can't keep taking care of me past 30? Could someone please show me the bloody law?) I can only list my favorite comics and movies because I love them all. . well, okay maybe Food of the Gods and the Incredible Melting Man weren't up for Golden Globes but hey they were better then Marvel Premieres 3-D Man by comparison - or maybe not..

DVD Box Sets I must Stop Watching - Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Lord of the Rings, anything from View Askew, Angel, The Flash.

Living under Murphy's Law. Site completed but had a crap-load of bugs on most of the pages. Complete first podcast but been so busy getting the site to work haven't got around to editing it. I was hoping to have this done by the first week of the year, and suffered set backs. When I meet this dude Murphy, I'm going ot kick his butt. |

Got through Justice League America and 52 today. Good reads. I for one like the change in Solomon Grundy. I hope there's a mix up between him and Fixit in the next Marvel/DC mega cross-over. (Hey, it could happen.)

Bona Vada fellow, glad to have you aboard. Just remember, this is the Decade of the Fanboys, we're totally going to get mention in VH1's "I Love the 00's." So not only will do we have today, we'll have a whole retro thing next two decades to fall back on. Life it cool.

If you paid money to see Catwoman, Electra, Punisher (both movies), Superman III & IV, Supergirl, or any of the last three Star Was movies – you might be a fanboy.
If you had a choice between the slutty teenager next door standing at her window naked letting you know that her parents won’t be back before you can lick all the whip cream off or getting a book sign by Alan Moore and you choose the book signing – you might be a fanboy.
If you know who wrote, penciled, inked, colored, edited, letterer, assisted with editing, assisted with assisting the editing Detective Comic #145, without having to look it up – you might be a fanboy.
If you’re refrigerator contains more mountain dew then food, you might be a fanboy.
If you constantly have to say, “They’re not dolls their “action figures.”” – you might be a fanboy.
If you own the box sets of every season of Enterprise – you might be a fanboy.

If you paid to see a bad movie just to catch the trailer to an up and coming comic book movie – you might be a fanboy.
If you’ve got so many long boxes you can use them as furniture, you might be a fanboy.
If your wife tells you to choose between her or the comics and you find yourself explaining you choice in divorce court, you might be a fanboy.
If you read the Maximum Clonage saga as a bedtime story to your children – you might be a fanboy.
If you went to comic movie with Jessica Alba in it for the acting – you’re not only a fanboy but you are an optimistic fanboy.

What is up, Man? Those references to being a fanboy are a myth! I did not choose the books over my wife! That was my ex- girlfriend (she was jealous of my precious books anyway!)! Well, glad to be here! They see me read-ing, my comics...they hatin', they keep on sayin I'm too Black an Nerdy...
