portfolio - photoshop - articles** I'll be taking advantage of the bulletin system for this, and hopefully you guys DON'T have it set to be sent to your email, 'cause otherwise it might be a pit of a pain. Anyway, thanks to school and work and Warcraft (I swear mostly the first two though) I haven't had time to update these as much as I'd like. I'm using an old wallpaper I made last year, since I've been re-reading Invincible anyway thanks to getting the big ole' HC for Channukah.Song: Note to Self: Don't Die - Ryan Adams (right-click, save-as) Buy: Rock N' Roll - Ryan AdamsRyan Adams always ends up sounding like cocky bastard, and Mark Grayson -like any other teenager suddenly thrust with awesome power, a little attitude goes a long way in helping with those new-superhero jitters. Also, I'm a sucker for lyrics that are a little literal when it comes to the things they make me think about: " I'm as blue I'm as blue as the ocean is true, it's just reflections of the sky" See? Cause his costume's blue? Yeah, ok, it's a stretch, I know, but the chorus is hard to ignore when it comes to teenage surety. Comic: Invincible #1Buy: Invincible Volume 1 - Family MattersI remember reading the first arc, enjoying the story for what I thought it was -a cute family tale of superheroics and intergenerational bonding. I dig that sort of thing: the happy family dynamic, the high school drama that comes with being far too strong for your own damned good. Of course, it didn't stay that way, and that's what makes this comic far more then what it seems at first blush. I'm not going to spoil it, issue 10 is half the fun of the entire series, but sufficed to say Kirkman takes full advantage of both the genre he's playing in, and the -uh- publisher that's giving him the chance to do so. No, I love Image! And I love the fact that Image loves gore. A lot.
I imagine if this book had been published under a different company the amount of red on the page would be much, much less that what Kirkman gets away with now.
I worded that awkwardly, didn't I? Yikes. |

A little. Or I read it awkwardly. : ]
I've personally never read Invincible, but I agree with your sentiment. Image is probably one of the few places that give you free reign to do your thing as your way as you want to, right? |

Hi there! We’re starting up this year’s Small Press Idol…and wanted to invite you to the grand unveiling of this year’s Guidelines. I apologize for the all-in-one nature of this. At this time, individuals and teams have a little over a month to get things together and be ready to post their Round 1 entries. Round 1 will last till March 25th. It’s a solid window to get a project together and qualified for Round 2 past our judge panel. If you are interested in being a contestant, this is fair warning to get a project going! If you are a news outlet or resource of any sort, we invite you to help spread the word about Small Press Idol, and get on the official Sponsors and Supporters list on the Idol Main Page. Traditionally, the page has gotten hundreds of thousands of hits a month for the 5 months the contest runs. All we ask in return for the link placement on our prominently placed list, is a link back in some way that is fairly prominent, and that you indeed cover the contest if you are a news site. You can contact us about that right from the guidelines page. Just want to watch the show? That’s great! Now is time to sign up at the site so you can VOTE in the rounds to come, and post comments about your favorites! We’re expecting hundreds of contestants this year. It should be a lot of fun!

Hope this message reaches you in the spirit it was intended, you are welcome to ask questions, and otherwise make sure this is for real. This is the fourth year for the SPI. Last year’s contest pages are still online. So that’s what this is about, hope it interests you!
