Hehe! Thanks, DeAndre! I was just checking out that Domestic Violence scene in your WIP....it whips you along like a roller-coaster! You've got a great thing for facial expressions going on there, man. Good work!

Thanks, Ed! I'm a lucky guy. Now I just have to pick up one of those domed watch cases to keep the dust off....

All right. Now I have to go out, get a job, earn some loot, and buy your sculpture. It's AWESOME, Dave!!!

Ed, thanks for the comment! Eric and I are pretty pleased puppies, to be sure! Hopefully there will be a write-up about the bust (and maybe a paint-up later) in "Amazing Figure Modeler Magazine", which is a darned cool publication.
I hope TRANSLUCENT is going well, by the way...that's an awesome looking story!
Take care,

Dave

You take care as well, friend.
You know, growing up on my daddy's farm, we had a tractor named "Hoss"....if you're anything like that tractor, you deserve a beer!

Many thanks! Hooking up with Eric was one of the smartest things I've ever done. He's helped me alot...way beyond the sculpture.
I was reading your bulletin about the Wall Street article....and I'm tempted to email their "advice lady" saying:
"I'm a graphics art college student and everyone is trying to get me to do work for free. What can I do to see that my time is worth something?" Of course, I'm not a student anymore, but I've sure been there!

Thanks for the kind comments on PISTOLFIST. Heck, you've got our gallery as one of your faves -- how could I possibly not "befriend" you! You're a sly one...

Thanks, Pistolfist! I got it honest....from my Mom!
"Well...go ahead and get married...I just brought you into the world..."

Thanks a bunch, Tom! I was really pleased when I read it. I like their Podcasts too! I've got to send another email your way soon, buddy...it's just been really busy here with Navy Drill and work.

Haha! When the idea came to me, I had to do it...it was just too cool to have goggles that looked like Spectre's and not send them your way. I'm glad you liked the story that I sent along with them..I was all grins while I was making that fake newpaper article and the telegram. You deserve it, Tom! I knew that receiving an actual "artifact" from your character's fictional history would be so great.
If it gave you some smiles, then it was a success!)

[ Posted by captain_spectre on Feb 28th, 2007 2:40 PM ]...

I am still smiling and will be for along time, my friend....again amazing!!!! Thanks so much!

I sometimes use Prismacolor's cool grays; you can see the effect on my gallery's avatar. I also discovered that, when in Photoshop, I can remove color and obtain a completely neutral gray (it takes the bluish tint out of the cools and the greenish cast out of the warms). In fact, you can take a fully colored image and give it that black-and-white TV look.

Anything that gets the job done! Looking forward to the rest of the story.

Thanks for the "Spirit of the Century" tip! I love the pulp genre, too. I just picked up a copy of Adamant Entertainment's "Thrilling Tales," which covers a lot of the same ground. And, of course, I have a copy of Steve Jackson's GURPS supplement, "Cliffhangers," around here somewhere.

You've sorta inspired me to try my hand at some pulp stuff. I'll be posting stuff soon, I hope.

And keep up the great work. I'm really enjoying your story! How are you coloring your work? Markers? Or are you using filters in Photoshop? Just curious as to your process.

Ah, a Brother of the Pulp! God bless ye, son! Sounds like you're hitting all the games I know about. I do hope you try some pulp stuff...and I recommend that you try to pick up some of the original pulp stories! I strongly recommend the SPIDER. You may be able to find some e-texts of his online if you want to check out a sample. I guarantee that you'll enjoy it!
As for the artwork, I'm doing it all in markers. I bought a pack of warm, greyscale markers to work it all out. Got about 13 panels out of them too, before I had to buy some replacements. I can't recall the brand name off the top of my head, but it's the first time I've worked with them. I'm pretty pleased.
Enjoy the Thrills!)
