Day after SPACE... by Ian Shires

Most of you probably don't know this: But MARCH is Dimestore's Birthday Month...we turn 22 years old today!! Yes sir, 22 years ago, I was in high school and learned about minicomics, and made Dungar #1. Saturday, I watched my 7 year old daughter get the first ever Junior Day Prize award for her first work on The Adventures of Marky #1. She proceeded to kick the butts in sales of everything else Dimestore brought with us, selling copies of #1 and the new #2 at SPACE. She sold somewhere in the neighborhood of 60 copies of those 2 comics and traded for bunches of other comics. I can't imagine how far this girl will go in 22 years. I look at that Dungar #1 and the Dungar #0 issue we're about to put out...so many light years different in ability and production. There wasn't an internet when I started. What will come that we don't know will exist? Who knows....but it'll definitely be quite a journey!

DIMESTORE COMMUNITY SITE (www.dimestoreproductions.com)

We held our first new Sponsored Chat recently, and are arranging some new ones. You can find in the forum section for Chat Transcripts a thread about who and when is going to sponsor a chat. What this means is: Whoever shows up at a sponsored chat, will receive a special item from that sponsor. Simple as that. Chats are a great way to joke around with and otherwise get to know the other members. Sponsored chats also have the added focus of learning more about one specific member and what they do. If you haven't been to a chat, or haven't lately...check it out! Definitely worth a visit.

DIMESTORE DISTRO SITE (www.dimestoredistro.com)

We saw this past week, the Mysterious Visions team from Wannabez, in #5, kick their promotion of their issue into high gear, and we saw some real results from that. They placed ads about the web via Project Wonderful, and put up Myspace and promo material to help sell the issue. Gotta say, way to go, and the issue did well...bounding it's way into the #1 seller spot on the Distro site. We'll see how that holds up when we post the SPACE data to the sales record, but I think it'll hold that top spot for now...showing how effective a little promotion can be getting a comic sold on the internet. I hope to have the new information and guidelines for submissions up this week, some people have already found the forms for submitting and they do work, although I do need to adjust a couple wordings for new clarity to fit the drive into Comic Stores and Specialty Shops we're working with Cold Cut to bring about. It's good that the new cart is holding up, seems easier to use and find things in.

SPA COMICS SITE (www.spacomics.com)

Haven't gotten very much set up here, and in fact, much of the stuff the Wannabez guys did to present MVA I want to see brought in to this site, and otherwise be usd to do the same for other issues. This week, we are focusing forward to the NEXT MVA on the list, and going to print with those that were on Final last week. We'll see if the #6 crew steps up and does some final push for their issue. But MVA #5, After Hours #2, and Honorable Mentions 2007 are all going off to the printer this week...so we can definitely have them for the GEM show NEXT month. SPA Comics needs it's members to rally and get in there, and start working together on that place.

INDYFEST USA SITE (www.indyfestusa.com)

Indyfest USA exploded onto SPACE this past weekend, and we're looking at a bunch of people who are looking at coming, we're not going to report the 'penciled in' folks though...good names though they be. Dan Taylor has made it official, so he will go up on the guest list with Bob Corby and Dimestore as exhibitors confirmed so far. I still need to check into and put Hotels and Restaurants onto the MAP...since we only have 15 tables, we're not going to be really ably to negotiate a 'official' hotel with a discount rate this year, but those coming can use the Indyfest site to let each other know which hotels are the best rates and such, and we'll definitely plan get together info soon, as to night before show party, etc. So the show's coming together, keep your eyes peeled!

We love comments! Write to us at: Kick@dimestoreproductions.con

Dimestore Productions is at: P.O. Box 214, Madison, OH 44057
