Donna- Thanks for the add, and for the nice panels you and Roberta Gregory drew in my San Diego jam that appeared in The Origin Of Sparky!

Hi, Steve! Gave my Sparky copy to the library -- we want to color those young minds as soon as possible!

Yeah, but I talk to everybody! Not that you're just ANYBODY; everybody in comics is special (well, we are. Who else would try this?).

Fantastic work, excellent!

Hey Donna! Thanks for the add - I've been a huge fan of Desert Peach and Stinz for years, and recently realized you've written a number of prose novels and can't wait to get my hands on some! Keep us all up to date on what's coming up and when, as I'd love to get some reviews of your work up on the Broken Frontier website. You're easily one of the best in the biz, and hands down the most underappreciated and unknown (and holy hell it can be tough tracking down your comics - what's up with that?) Anyway, love your work, and wish you all the best ---Dave B.

Why thank you! And yes, the books are rare -- often due to very low print runs. We printed oodles of #1's, and they're still available, as are some #2's. Now I'm my own publisher, it's been a struggle. However, you'll find the new books up at www.lulu.com/desertpeach, at Amazon.com (search Donna Barr) and the older books at www.stinz.com. I've never advertised a lot -- word-of-mouth has always been my friend. I have a select readership: They don't herd -- I have to track them down and bag them one at a time. Recently, www.rummelhart.deviantart.com has started driving folks to the sales sites. And of course there's the web versions at http://www.moderntales.com/comics/desert
peach.php Unfortunately, I don't plan to print them in color because I'm using POD, and those technologies are too expensive for color. I have a tendency, once things begin to work for me in the field, to break down the next fence and take off into new and unprofitable territory (easily bored? Or my Rom blood?). Hm. "Broken Frontier" would be an appropriate website to talk about my work! I do have ways for reviewers to see some of the POD work without cost, so let me know. I'm working on the re-invented Desert Peach and Stinz in a big book that will be coming from Lulu this year. All new -- and utterly strange -- stories. Check out Moderntales.

Did you find some books you wanted to see over at my site? I can get you copies for review.

Donna

Hey! Thanks for checking in Donna - the sites all look great, and there is a LOT of content to sift through between them! I've been browsing, though generally haven't quite cleared my plate enough to truly devote my all to them. When I can, I'd ideally like to write a number of articles spotlighting your numerous titles, books, projects, etc. and what's available where amongst the sites and online shops. I've got one overlarge project to polish off before I can do this, though, and it's a few months away from finished, but when it is I'll be sure to inquire for an interview and put forth a proposal for a series of articles about you and your outlandishly extensive portfolio!
Books for review are always appreciated, and I can give you an email address or physical address depending on the format you'd like to deal with. The web strips I'll cover when I get around to fully exploring the websites, but until then, if you've got individual books/title you'd like to get some press on, let me know and I'd be more than happy to hop to it! --Dave B.

Ach! I'm such a fan! Years and years ago, a wise comics shop owner put the Desert Peach in front of me when I was just emerging from the standard pubescent love affair with the X-Men. It opened my eyes to the scope comics storytelling, and has remained one of my high-watermarks for the medium ever since. Please publish one million more comics!

Thank you! I will do my best. Look for "Afterdead" -- a collection of all the latest, mostly non-distributed Peach and Stinz I've been plowing away at for the last year or so. I'm scanning it now. You can actually get most of it in parts at www.lulu.com/desertpeach

Oh, heavens, I knew I knew that name! Yes, it's been a long time. So how you doing?

You might recognize the re-working of an old Traveler illo at: www.rummelhart.deviantart.com ("Body Parts."). Part of a new Desert Peach.

Yes, I know, I've been out of touch for so long people think I'm dead and have posted copies of Desert Peach #1 at ebay for $124! Trying to set up an arts festival up here and becoming a local journalist for a rural area (and learning to fish and cut wood) have clogged things a bit.

New stuff on the way as soon as my arm heals and I get these art and writing commissions out of the way.

[ Posted by KyleMiller on Dec 21st, 2006 5:47 PM ]...

$124? You're worth way more than that. I don't think anyone thinks I'm dead. I have to convince them I'm alive first. I used to live in the Pacific Northwest (Eugene) but now I'm in the Chicago area. Still making games, and doing more cartoons as well. Good luck with everything. :)

Donna Barr accepted my friend request.... I'm in heaven now!

After all these years... and no, I still can't draw a damn decent horse. They look like deer and oversized dogs. Granted my current work has nothing to do with horses... but you know what I mean.

Hey, Jimmie, how you doing?

Oh, horses are hard. They take a lot of work. Check out Diana Sasse's work for gorgeous horses!

And check out www.deviantart.com for driving customers to your site. They love all kinds of art.

I'm at www.rummelhart.deviantart.com

And what YOU been up to?
