I'm a college English and Film professor in South Carolina. I often teach classes that involve comics and pop culture.

I write scholarly essays that have almost nothing to do with comics, except for the one about Uncle Scrooge in Vietnam.

I've been hooked on comics for the better part of 35 years, from when I first read a comic where Batman has to escape a deathtrap involving crossbows set up by the Riddler. Growing up on a farm in North Dakota, I had little to do with my time except read comics and milk cows. And since I never milked a cow in my life, I'll let you do the math.

I occasionally loan Chris Sims some of my old comics, with which he makes the funny on the Invincible Super Blog.

I'm also an actuary, and I have the tattoo to prove it.

Thanks for the add, Andrew. Hope you can find something at my website that appeals, even if these new webcomicky things can't be read in the cow-shed!

Hi Dr. K, -- Thanks for adding me to your friends list. I'm interested in how you use comics in an educational setting. I've done some educational comics myself, and the university I work for recently hosted Dr. James Kakalios, author of "The Physics of Superheroes". He teaches complex concepts in physics using superheroes (i.e.: How fast would the Flash need to run across a body of water to avoid sinking?) I initially thought you were him, actually.
