Dragonbat
Well, I'm really sort of new at this. I've got an LJ account but not a myspace. I first started reading comics with the Firestar mini when I was 14. That title led me to X-Men, and I got hooked. When Death in the Family made the newspapers, I started reading Batman. And then... I fell out of love with X-Men. And then... Azbats killed my batbook interest. It wasn't until I found Rucka's NML novelization years later that I came back to comics again. But back I am. I write fanfiction, too. Depending on the site/forum I post as Esther-Channah, estherdragonbat, dragonbat, and dragonbat2006. Furthermore, if anybody is looking for a proofreader, I can assist. I have a certificate in Publishing from Ryerson Polytechnic in Toronto, and also betaread fanfiction. I guess that's it for now. Cheers! Thanks for the add. Very interested in your proof reading, can you let me know what sort of figure you're looking for and the best way to send material to you. Thanks! 1 Reply [ Latest posted on April 15th, 2007 7:53 PM ]

What is the overall quality of the raw material? If the writing level is high, I can usually read about 4-5 pages per hour. According to http://www.payscale.com/mypayscale.aspx?pid=2c635f cb-33b1-4704-9628-b4e884fb1ae0, that would seem to work out to a rate of roughly $4 CDN per page.
Now, if the original material is poorly organized, and has spelling/grammar/syntax issues, or if I also need to fact-check, I can do this, but it's more time-consuming. We're looking at 2-3 pages per hour or about $7 CDN per hour. (Basing it on the average of $17.36 per hour for 2 years experience.)
My editing experience can probably best be summarized as:
1994-1996: The Real Estate Investor, Downsview, Ontario Proofread advertising and news copy for real estate publication.
2005-2007: Story Editor: http://idlewilder.proboards54.com/index.cgi
Edited Batman (2005-2006) and Nightwing (2006-2007) stories for fanfiction site.
2006-2007 Freelance edited for several writers at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BLUDHAVEN/

One of the best writers that our site at DC2universe.com has! Not only that, but a very sweet lady to boot! Thanks for the add, Ellen. 1 Reply [ Latest posted on March 25th, 2007 9:13 PM ]
