Mayo, Ireland ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BIO Multi-talented artist Alex Alderete approaches his love of art, music, and writing with a fever and ferocity that is only matched by his passion for hot sauce and the Buffalo Bills. “My approach to art is more sculptural than anything else, I really try to carve the image out of the page. Another very important part of my work is line quality, with every curve of the pencil or brush I demand life in the subject matter.” Alderete doesn’t keep his options limited by only sticking to a couple of genres, “an artist needs to absorb influences from all areas or their creativity ultimately suffers.” A Los Angeles born mash up of American and European parents, this artist has traveled the gypsy’s road of experience from L.A., Buffalo, Kansas City, and currently based in Boston. Never feeling satisfied in one place for too long, this unsettled drive comes through in his vivacious work. Currently Alderete is making his mark on the art scene in the comic book and gaming world. Alex has worked on the exciting Terminator Salvation sketch cards for Topps, Archie Comics/March of Dimes Charity Auction sketch carrds, and Portrait/Personal commissions. Concurrently World of War Sport, a multi media global gaming company has allowed Alex’s career to propel to a different level. This exciting creative company is the new monolith of the gaming world and they’ve been gracious enough to allow this artist to produce sketch cards for them. “I think your work is Great!”-Todd Fischer, creator of World of War Sport. This artist is always working on commissions for his fanbase. Alex also has self-published two exciting original stories drawn and written by the artist. Alex Alderete is a rare breed of artist torn between his two loves, art and music. So what did he do, he acquired a bachelor’s degree from two of the best programs in the country. In 1998 Alex graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute, the top three private art schools in the United States with a degree in Painting/Drawing. This great talent was the winner of a $24,000.00 private competitive scholarship from K.C.A.I. during the early part of his college life. In Kansas City Alex focused his fine art career on selling his painting and being commissioned for murals. Back in Southern California, the gallery scene was another area greeted with success. “Alderete manages to project an artful, deceptively casual presence.” “Overall, we get a sense of artistic impulses caught on the fly, committed to art before being fully formed and polished. It's a refreshing slap in the face of convention.”-Josef Woodard, esteemed art critic for the Los Angeles Times. “The addition of illustration into my art has been a fruitful acquisition in. Artists such as Ben Templesmith and Ashley Wood have been a great influence in my life. I absolutely love Welcome to Hoxford and Zombies v. Robots v. Amazons. As far as his music career is concerned Alex graduated from the Berklee College of Music with a focus on composition. These skills were channeled towards gigging, film scoring and jingle writing for small businesses throughout the U.S. and Canada. With 20 yrs. of experience as a lead and rhythm guitarist, Alex enjoys playing blues, jazz, funk, and experimental. |
