Its a tough choice to remake the older parts of the story. I ended up doing it because I didn't plan my story out well enough and wrote myself into a rather huge plothole. I really didn't want to start over though so I kept the first three chapters and just redid everything after that. First you need to decide what you want to do with the story, that'll make it a lot easier to decide what can stay and what needs to go.
