| Bulletin: | Fellow Members of Comicspace.com: I'm calling for an outright boycott of this so-called Comic Book Challenge. Platinum Studios has been fronting their version of "the comics version of 'American Idol'" for the second year. The reason for my asking for your support is simple: Platinum Studios wouldn't know a good idea for a comic if it bit them on their collective back sides. Their primary motive for this so-called contest is so that they can basically "borrow" the lamest possible ideas, publish them, then exploit Hollywood's hunger for anything having to do with comics. Last year's winner is a classic example of this philosophy. Now, this isn't me spewing sour grapes. I'm just angered by the fact that there's a company lecherous enough to dupe unsuspecting comic fans into what could turn out to be something out of a really bad 1970's made-for-TV movie. So, if you hear about this contest, please encourage as many of people as you're all able to stay as far away from it as possible. Don't vote, don't bother looking at the amateurish entries. Trust me. You'll be better off. Instead, why not check out what Top Cow's doing with their new "Pilot Season" concept! That's the coolest idea of the year! |
