I've started selling my artwork here at Comicspace and it's gone very well so far! If there's anything of mine that you're interested in that you don't see in my galleries, let me know. My name is RYAN DUNLAVEY, I draw and self-publish the Xeric-award winning, critically acclaimed and surprisingly popular ACTION PHILOSOPHERS series. I also write and draw comics for ROYAL FLUSH and the weekly(ish) webcomic TOMMY ATOMIC when I have the time. I make comics and read comics every day. I make my living as a freelance illustrator for clients like WIZARD, TOYFARE and DISNEY ADVENTURES, a lot of which you can see at my Deviant Art page. My favorite cartoonists are Jack Davis, Shawn Kerri, Jack Kirby, Wally Wood, Chuck Jones, Berke Breathed, Steve Purcell, Bernie Mierault, Kyle Baker, Mort Drucker and pretty much anybody else that doesn't suck. I'm ALWAYS available for paid freelance work - just email me. Holy crap it's the Sinister Six! Wow you've read this far, so here's a list of comics I've either enjoyed recently or am REALLY looking forward to picking up: The Aviary by Jamie Tanner, GB Tran's Content, MODOK's 11 written by Fred Van Lente, Sharknife, King City, Won Ton Soup, Planetes, East Coast Rising, Scott Pilgrim, Marvel's all-ages stuff, Nextwave, Agents of Atlas, Dr Strange: The Oath, The Thing, Plastic Man, Shazam and the Monster Society of Evil, Savage Dragon Archives, Complete MAD, EC Archives. Looks like I've got a lot of reading to do.

Mr. Dunlavey, I just bought some of your art here on comicspace. Joseph Campbell is my hero, and "Action Philosophers" is an outstanding book. Thanks for making the pages available. (And affordable!) I am thrilled to own this little piece of history, my first ever original art purchase. Good luck with the new baby and continued success. Jordan Lowe |

You can read it online right here: http://www.comicspace.com/fred_van_lente/comics.ph p?action=gallery&comic_id=828 As for getting an actual copy, you'll have to ask Fred - I had nothing to do with it. |

Thank you Mr. Dunlaney. Both of the Action Philosophers trades I ordered came to me in the eleventh hour of a somewhat short, but incredibly boring hospital stay this weekend. I know you guys didn't have anything to do with the timing or anything, but I can't tell you how great it was when my girlfriend brought the mail up to the hospital room and that brown envelope was in there. I am thoroughly enjoying the books, by the way. Keep up the good work, and please pass this along to Mr. Van Lente. 1 Reply [ Latest posted on January 24th, 2007 4:21 PM ]

And thank YOU, Evan, for buying my books! Glad to hear you're out of the hospital, hope you bounce back quickly. As for Fred, why not let him know personally? |

Thanks for the add, Ryan! I might have a project that your art's the right style for, for you to try-out for now (you contacted me awhile back via a DW ad?).
Please get in touch if you'd like to know more! 1 Reply [ Latest posted on January 23rd, 2007 5:30 PM ]

Mr. Dunlavey, your poster of the Hero's Journey is proudly displayed on my wall, rivaling (and perhaps surpassing) my other wallcovering (the gigantic Alex Ross/George Perez Crisis print) as the greatest poster of all time. Thank you! |
