Touted as a potential $100 million domestic grosser during its first three days, "Wolverine" unspools virtually day-and-date in 101 international territories, with only Japan, India and Japan set for later bows. The Marvel Studios-produced pic had been scheduled to bow this weekend in Mexico, but its release there has been postponed -- possibly to May 14, though the date hasn't been finalized. Sony, Aardman plan two animated projects Sony Pictures and stop-frame animation house Aardman Animations are moving forward with two animated features, "Arthur Christmas" and "Pirates!" "Pirates!" sees Aardman co-founder Peter Lord back behind the camera for a movie done in hand-crafted stop-motion animation, the company's signature style seen in films such as "Wallace & Gromit in the Curse of Were-Rabbit" and "Chicken Run," while "Christmas" will be produced wholly in CGI. Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang To Begin Filming Universal Pictures and Working Title Films - in association with Three Strange Angels Productions - announced that principal photography begins early next month on Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang. Oscar(R)-winning actress and screenwriter Emma Thompson (Nanny McPhee, Sense and Sensibility) returns to the role of the magical nanny who appears when she's wanted the least and needed the most in the next chapter of the hilarious and heartwarming fable that has enchanted children around the world. Sasha Roiz expands role on Sci Fi's 'Caprica' Sasha Roiz has joined Sci Fi's "Caprica" as a series regular after guest starring in the pilot as Sam Adama, brother of lead Joseph Adama (Esai Morales). Hasbro and Discovery Communications Announce New Network Hasbro and Discovery Communications announced an agreement to form a 50/50 joint venture, including a television network and website, dedicated to high-quality children’s and family entertainment and educational programming built around some of the most well-known and beloved brands in the world. As part of the transaction, the joint venture also will receive a minority interest in the U.S. version of Hasbro.com. New programming will be based on brands such as ROMPER ROOM, TRIVIAL PURSUIT, SCRABBLE, CRANIUM, MY LITTLE PONY, G.I. JOE, GAME OF LIFE, TONKA and TRANSFORMERS, among many others. The TV network and online presence also will include content from Discovery’s extensive library of award-winning children’s educational programming, such as BINDI THE JUNGLE GIRL, ENDURANCE, TUTENSTEIN, HI-5, FLIGHT 29 DOWN and PEEP AND THE BIG WIDE WORLD, as well as programming from third-party producers. Dick Tracy Up For Grabs in Tribune Bankruptcy A judge presiding over Tribune Co.'s Chapter 11 bankruptcy case will take up a dispute with actor Warren Beatty over the TV and movie rights to comic book character Dick Tracy.
