'Buffy' in for feature relaunch

A new incarnation of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" could be coming to the big screen. "Buffy" creator Joss Whedon isn't involved and it's not set up at a studio, but Roy Lee and Doug Davison of Vertigo Entertainment are working with original movie director Fran Rubel Kuzui and her husband, Kaz Kuzui, on what is being labeled a remake or relaunch, but not a sequel or prequel.

"24" Season Eight Begins Production

On the upcoming eighth season of the real-time drama, to be set in New York, "Kissing Jessica Stein" star Jennifer Westfeldt will play the recurring role of Meredith Reed, an ambitious journalist with ties to Arman Hashemi (Anil Kapoor), a Middle East leader who comes to the U.S. on a peacemaking mission.John Boyd has been cast as systems analyst Jonah Schwartz in the revitalized CTU.

Fox Kicks Off Summer TV Season

ox's new summer drama series "Mental" launched to modest numbers Tuesday evening. "Mental" opened to 5.8 million viewers and a 2.1 rating among adults 18-49 in the 9 p.m. hour, mainly airing against specials and repeats.

TNT, TBS pick up WB film package

"Terminator Salvation" is headed to TNT as part of a 13-title Warner Bros. movie package nabbed by the network and sister cabler TBS. The deal also includes recent openers "Watchmen" and "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past," Clint Eastwood's sleeper hit "Gran Torino" and three upcoming releases: Todd Phillips' "The Hangover"; the Steven Soderbergh/Matt Damon collaboration "The Informant"; and the Guy Ritchie-directed holiday release "Sherlock Holmes," starring Robert Downey Jr.

DC Comics Teams With Marc Ecko

DC Comics has partnered with global fashion designer Marc Ecko to introduce co-branded, limited-edition collections inspired by Batman, along with select members from his classic Rogues Gallery. The new collections will feature a wide range of designs based on characters in the DC Universe, including The Joker, Two-Face, Mr. Freeze, Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, and Killer Croc. The new line will include a range of limited-edition items such as hoodies, tees, woven shirts, headwear, and watches. Items in the collection will be available in the U.S. and Canada and produced for young men under brand names including Ecko Unltd, Marc Ecko Cut & Sewn, and Zoo York, and juniors' collections will be released under the Ecko red label.
