14 Nov 2009 - Age of Bronze #29 and The Marvelous Land of Oz #1 went on sale the first week in November.
Check the Age of Bronze Website at: www.age-of-bronze.com for regular updates and, currently, a link to pencil art in progress from Age of Bronze #30. 6 May 2009 - Click here to see the first eight penciled pages of Age of Bronze #29. It's a pdf that will open in Acrobat. Nov 25 - NOW AVAILABLE! The new Age of Bronze book, titled BETRAYAL PART ONE, is out at last. You can get more information and order it over the internet here. Or you can wait till next Wednesday, November 28, when it will be on sale in comic book stores. July 23 - Okay, I finally finished the art for Age of Bronze #26 and sent it to Image Comics, so it should be out in a couple weeks. I have no excuse for it being so late--it just took me a looooong time to draw. Now I gotta get my schedule back on track. Of course, exhibiting at the San Diego Comic Con this coming Wednesday through Sunday won't help my schedule, but I hope it's fun. If you attend the convention, stop by my booth--#2008--and say hi! Mar. 26 - Hope to see you at the Emerald City Comic Con this weekend in Seattle! Mar. 12 - Age of Bronze #25 went on sale last week. I hope you have your copy by now. And if you're anywhere near Bloomington, IL, on Thursday at 4 PM, stop by Illinois Wesleyan University to hear my keynote speech. Details here. Feb. 12 - Returned last Saturday from a 5-signing tour in France for the French publisher of AGE OF BRONZE, Akileos. They just brought out the third AGE OF BRONZE book which will be out in the USA this summer. Signing in France is great! I always have a line of people waiting, which is certainly NOT the case in the USA. I didn't go to Angouleme this year. The Festival had major re-organization and a lot of publishers declined to exhibit. Mine was one, so they sent me to Paris, Chartres, and Tours, instead. I'm not complaining! Click here for a report. Dec. 28 - AGE OF BRONZE issue #24 is out today! I haven't seen it yet since I'm chained to the drawing table, trying to finish the next issue before the new year. But, you, go out and get a copy and let me know how it looks! Dec. 23 - Penciled nearly two pages today--16 panels. Whew! Haven't done that since 1986. A day and a half a page is about my regular pace, but it's deadline crunch time. Happy holidays to all my Comicspace friends and especially to you, the one reading this right now. Dec. 11 - I'm so busy right now trying to get Age of Bronze #25 finished by year's end, so I haven't taken time to send people comments or respond to those who've added me as a ComicSpace friend. It's not that I don't appreciate all of you, I do, but, you know, the life of a busy cartoonist and all. So please accept this impersonal blanket thanks as if it were personal. Now I gotta get back to inking. Dec. 9 - Okay, so anyone who's ever seen my artwork can probably tell right away that I'm pretty obsessive-compulsive. Not to the extent that it's a disorder, but I still letter most of my comics work by hand. Gotta get the perspective right, even if it's gonna be covered by figures and word balloons. Leaving a panel without a background is like fingernails on a chalkboard for me. Dammit, it's gotta be right or why bother? Narrative art, can't live with it, can't live without it. Hey, I just won the Gran Guinigi at Lucca for Best "Seriale Fumetti!" Totally unexpected, so that makes it so much better. I'm happy to be me! Age of Bronze is my comics art retelling of the Trojan War story. When it's complete, I'll have incorporated every version of the story that I can find into one long comics story, while reconciling all the contradictions among different versions, and setting the whole thing in the correct historical period, the 13th century BCE. Since 1998, Age of Bronze has been published by Image Comics. Two graphic novel collections of the serialized comic book are available: A Thousand Ships and Sacrifice. The third volume, Betrayal Part One, will be published in summer of 2007. For more Age of Bronze info, go to www.age-of-bronze.com. I've also done a lot of other comics, including my Oz graphic novel series, recently collected into one volume, Adventures in Oz, published by IDW.
