Fernando Ramirez is a multi-talented writer/artist/musician living in San Antonio, TX. On the comics side, he is a writer, artist (pencil, ink), colorist (Photoshop), letterer (he has his own font), editor, and publisher.

As co-owner of the now defunct MAVERICK STUDIOS, the artist released two publications: WORDS & PICTURES #1 (1994), and WORDS & PICTURES #2 (1995). These anthology comics were done in conjunction with another artist/writer. Each artist split the book's content, and as such were free to do ANY KIND OF STORYTELLING they wanted. The books are devoid of traditional comics work, but instead are comprised of challenging and philosophical work. Imagine what VERTIGO comics could have been like, had the artists and writers been free of editorial constraints to experiment with their storytelling... and that's WORDS & PICTURES.

Fernando has also had some his comics work published by such companies as PERIPHERAL VISION PRESS (Book of Dreams, 1993), MOJO PRESS (Bad Chili, 1996, The Big Bigfoot Book, 1996), and VANGUARD PUBLICATIONS (Tales From The Edge, 1996).

Since 1996, Fernando has continued working on comics in his spare time. During this period, he completed a few original screenplays (BROKEN WINGS (1998), SK(1999), and IN HUMANITY (2000)), and got into music production.

Now, thanks to some good friends... Fernando is back working on comics for the time being. He is collaborating with Brian Farrens (ANTARCTIC PRESS'S WARRIOR NUN), Brian Bird, and Jay Hilgenfeld on comics stories for Jay's company PANCHO PRESS. Right now, the the plan is for each creator to create an 8 page original concept/story that will be featured in a 24 page comics anthology. If all goes well, the book should be submitted to Diamond Comics Distributors with the intention of soliciting the anthology to the direct market.

Each creator's work will remain CREATOR-OWNED, and depending on the impact this anthology has, each creator will then release separate comics featuring their projects. Jay is working on a series called AMORICA, which is his utterly original take on the King Arthur mythology. Brian Farrens is at work on a sci-fi concept. Brian Bird is working on a unique urban mythology.

Fernando's property is called ENOK THE PRODIGAL. It is a fantasy/sword & sorcery property. Enok is a warrior who has been forcibly separated from his homeworld, which was destroyed from within by evil forces. Nando has already completed his 8 page story for the anthology. ENOK THE PRODIGAL has an entire backstory to go with it... Fernando has been working on it for about 6 years. He even has drawn a map of his hero's homeworld.

Nando has plans for more comics work. He has much work to share! 4 years ago, he remastered his work from WORDS & PICTURES (by adding some pages, fixing some panels, and re-lettering all pages). He has also done several new stories for a volume that will compile and reprint his old comics work. He hopes to print this volume within the next 6 months. This book, which has been in the works for some 5 years, will be called WALKWAYS.

In addition, he is putting together a comics magazine called NANDO's COMICS. The first issue will be 24 pages. It will feature another property called JAKOB THE JUST (8 pages, A Christian hero), THE TEMPTATION OF CHRIST (8 pages, 10 years in the making), and THE ENDLESS QUEST (6 years in the making, a collaboration with Brian Farrens about conquistadors).
