HiStory
I really started writing when I went to college in the US back in Fall of 1994. Went there with my twin bro (we have yet to determine which of us is the evil one) and spent 3 years in Fayetteville, AR. When we could, we hooked up with our older bro, who was studying in Denton, TX at the time. Now we're all back home in Singapore. Oh, and I have another bro - the eldest. Yeap, all boys. ComicStory Carrier is a story conceived in early 2007. The artist did some cool bios and I finished up the mini-series (at least 96 pgs) length of script. After Al Mahir (that's the artist) got the pencils done for the first chapter, we realised it could go well in either color or noir. Anyhow, Carrier recounts the lives of Timmy a fourteen year-old boy and his classmate, Tammy along with their adventures in dream. Timmy relates that he is the captain of a (pirate) ship in his dreams, flying from one floating island to the next, which are ruled by a kingdom. He soon realises that he is on some sort of a quest. The quest brings Timmy, Tammy and Tammy's imaginary friend - Gertrude - to unchartered territory within the kingdom and the dream realm, where there will be Stealers, adversaries, mystical figures, royal armies and battles. Together, they discover Timmys dreams are portents to events in their real lives. They confront their fears and as the line between what is real and dream is blurred, their existence is drawn to a larger scheme of things. OtherStory Other series I'm working on are: - shorts (horror, action and so on) for various anthologies - a crime graphic novel ala '100 Bullets' with a Greek twist set in the 'boroughs of NY - a more unconfined interpretation of the superhero genre not unlike 'Astro City' - a mythical tale of a boy and an ancient statue he finds at the roof of his neighbourhood museum - mixed character-driven shorts of slice-of-life stories and perhaps the surreal - a fantasy/myth adventure of a warrior, healer, guardians and the darkening Dream. Collaborate. Create. Inspire. Email if you want to talk about scripts, need a story or in a 'why-the-heck-not' mood.
