I love your digital work and as a digital artist (escalation is all done in Manga Studio EX) I wondered if you did your sketches digitally as well?

sorry for not responding earlier- haven't been on here in a while. no digital sketching - i draw everything with traditional tools- ink, dip pen, graphite, etc. then scan and combine in photoshop with painted elements, digital painting, filters etc.

Hello Flameape. Thanks for the add. Cool stuff in your galleries. I particularly like your rendition of Morpheus.

Not to be too shameless, but I'd like to point you to my current comic Dusk - http://dusk.ambrosiapublishing.com/. I'm honestly looking for good solid feedback on the story. I'm even willing to make trades for reviews and/or exposure. I'd be willing to do link swaps or even write a script in trade.

I reallllllllly like that Iron Man piece you did.

Hi Gregory. Thanks so much for the add and the kind words. I'm (pleasantly) surprised and honored to have made it onto your list of favorites. You seem to be able to switch from style to style with ease, betraying no drop in the uniformly high quality. Having seen your fantastic use of color, I may never venture off of my black and white island again! Looking forward to Holliday, and I'll definitely check out the other Abraxas offerings.

Hey!
I'm majoring to be a graphic designer too!! So far I only know that graphic designers design book covers and web sites. Do they do anything else other than that?
Do you know if the pay is good for a graphic designer? How do we get work? Sorry for all the questions but my teachers aren't all the helpfull =|

Wow, this is some really cool funky artwork! I love that Iron Man. Are those comics pages intentionally yellowed?

yes they were scans of actual golden age comics. i then photoshopped out the panels leaving blank aged comic pages. then the final color layers were blended with the page below using layer blending modes like screen, multiply, etc... someday i'm going to publish a tutorial on how to do it.

Thanks for the add! Looks like we're in kind of the same phase in our careers-- after years of whoring for ad agencies, mostly, I'm able to focus on creating my own comic book. I'll look forward to seeing what we both manage to produce!

Hi there! We’re starting up this year’s Small Press Idol…and wanted to invite you to the grand unveiling of this year’s Guidelines. I apologize for the all-in-one nature of this. At this time, individuals and teams have a little over a month to get things together and be ready to post their Round 1 entries. Round 1 will last till March 25th. It’s a solid window to get a project together and qualified for Round 2 past our judge panel. If you are interested in being a contestant, this is fair warning to get a project going!
If you are a news outlet or resource of any sort, we invite you to help spread the word about Small Press Idol, and get on the official Sponsors and Supporters list on the Idol Main Page. Traditionally, the page has gotten hundreds of thousands of hits a month for the 5 months the contest runs. All we ask in return for the link placement on our prominently placed list, is a link back in some way that is fairly prominent, and that you indeed cover the contest if you are a news site. You can contact us about that right from the guidelines page.
Just want to watch the show? That’s great! Now is time to sign up at the site so you can VOTE in the rounds to come, and post comments about your favorites! We’re expecting hundreds of contestants this year. It should be a lot of fun!

http://www.dimestoreproductions.com/SmallPressIdol
/Idol07/index.html

Hope this message reaches you in the spirit it was intended, you are welcome to ask questions, and otherwise make sure this is for real. This is the fourth year for the SPI. Last year’s contest pages are still online. So that’s what this is about, hope it interests you!

Thanks for adding me to your friends!

Pardon this pre - written/forum Seasons Greetings, as always we wish for peace on earth, and in this New Year may you have the wisdom to drink no more than one glass of alcohol for every too of alcohol and not drive… er, no.
That’s water.
One of alcohol and 2 of water- yah - so as to not get a bad hangover due to over conviviality.
And maybe a nice bit of nosh too, a bit of nuts and cheese.
And hey, some roasted meat or appropriate vegetarian substitute - but not tofurky, god that stuff is awful - so you don’t puke and look green like the other day at my friends place – the water that is, so you don’t puke - and the nosh so there is something solid to soak it all up with, bread with it all is really the best - her poor roommate I saw there while waiting to go to the bus station.

And yah, don’t forget to not spend your buss or taxi money on all that like I did once - stick it in your shoe or something, unless you expect to loos those at some point. What was I saying?

Oh yah, so happy New Year all!

Comics tonight are crashing and burning. I feel like I need to do a war comic but war doesn't seem that different from the last war comic I did. So i need to coem up with somethign new to say about something old. And I'm failing. So I am goofing off on here instead of painting!
